come on guys

power loss

restart engine, and all is well. but dont last...

any ideas?

From what you describe Starts fine, runs ok, then power loss, restart engine, runs ok, then power loss again.
This sounds a though the ECU is switching to a "safe map", probably due to a sensor out of range condition. Re-starting the engine will temporarily "fix" this, until the ECU see the error condition again.
The MIL will not always switch on in these circumstances, so check for a stored fault code, with paper clip/wire.

55 NFF, well that's probably good news, keep looking at the fueling then....

thanks

will do

been mentioned could be a breather problem, but he didt tell me what one....

time for hair pulling out

im running out of ideas to sort it

come on guys. help out !!

Same - no power

Did you ever sort this Zippy?

I have exact same issue. Car fine, then all of a sudden no power. Quickly turn off ignition and back on to reset ECU and fine again for a while.

Changed MAF, no difference.

Put ECU Diagnostics reader on with laptop.

MAF, Throttle sensor etc look fine, signals as expected.

There's another signal called 'Target Fuel Inj', which looks like its the amount of fuel the ECU thinks it ought to be squirting in. When engine power OK, this goes up off the scale on hard throttle (which is 60mm cubed plus). When doing its low power thing, this won't go above 28mm cubed.

So clearly as previous post, looks like ECU is going into a limp home mode.

But again, no error codes. So what might cause this, what other sensor reading might give me a clue?

nope still not sorted,

not a non runner.. so what ever is wrong is no bust..

but still mo error code.

joined AA waiting for membership cards and paperwork before i call then to sort it out.

will keep you posted

I get this too guys, power will sometimes just drop off to , turn off ignition and on again and its fine :/

Last friday I went up to glasgow, got about 30 miles and the car lost power, turned ignition off and then re-started, all ok for a few miles, same problem again, stopped and fitted new MAF sensor, all ok then roughly every 7 minutes, no power and the car went into limp home mode.......
Did the trip a few weeks ago and no problems at all, the only difference was the rain, got to lancaster and found a motor factors as I might have picked up some dirty fuel, changed filter, took about half an hour in the pouring rain, car drove ok for a while then same problem. No power and no MIL light either at any time.
Came on here (thanks guys) and did a little reading and mentally glued some different threads describing similar problems, came to the conclusion that it was the MAF not liking the wetness. Took the breather tube off the air filter and blocked up the holes in the inner wing with some foam.
Problem solved. Car ran perfectly, in fact, better than before and recorded an excellent 39.8 mpg over the run.
I suspect that this is caused by the MAF sensor sending some info to the ECU which is causing the electronics to send the map into limp home mode.
In my case, it was too much moisture, even though the filter is new and an oem part. Removing the inlet breather tube from the air filter did the trick and I'm now looking at an alternative breather system.
Worth a try??
Check also the cables going into the plug for wear......

Diesel lines

Diesel lines in the past i had the start of a leak tiny pin hole wetting area but not dripping.

Its the start of lots of fault but no MIL light

ok, got some really annoying and odd issues now

Keeps going into limp mode (well thats what i think as it looses power, wont rev, and resets it's self after i turn it off and restart engine)

Serious black smoke a lot of the time, leaves a plume when pulling off from junctions and a serious trail is visible when gunning it

I? just don't know where to start :/
