hi guys

yesterday i changed the fuel filter and while under the bonnet i blocked off the egr pipes like in the download section. took the mav for a spin this morn and theres no power.
it s juddery and coughing and wont rev past 2500 underload and 3000 out of gear. cant see any fuel leaks from the filter and surrounding pipes and it doesnt seem to be blowing any smoke.
rear fuel pipes were replaced for last mot and mini filter was cleaned last year.
its a 94 2.7td mav
any ideas before i unblock the egr pipes and try that:doh

thanks makeitfit
had another look under the bonnet and i'd not plugged the wire off the fuel filter back in:doh
plugged it in an had a good run round and everything seems back to normal:clap

Hmm, I've had 'resistance' to rev past these sort of figures too since I changed my fuel filter, fairly sure that I reconnected that lead, though I will double check when it stops being wet n 'orrible out there!

I know that connection is to do with the water trap sensor or something, but what does it do to have such an effect? Mine is a Mk1 Td (no I).

I think in this case it's just coincidence. I dont have the stock filter and the cable is always undone and no issues.
If it wont rev then there's no fuel most likely and that's probably the mini filter and or not bled through properly. Also possible to be perished leaking fuel pipes over the rear axle ontop of the chassis.

That makes sense, I diluted the cooking oil with some diesel and now it revs a bit better so I think maybe the thicker fluid was causing some issue sucking it all through - could well be that dodgy cheapo fuel filter I got from ebay before I learnt about Milners :doh

I'll wait for the snow (hah, yeah, that'll happen) to go away and crawl underneath to check fuel lines when it's dry. Some of us prefer that to rolling the truck over to check it out  (sorry, couldn't help that!)

sounds just like mine after I changed the filter. Won't be anything to do with the wire. Most likely air in the system. Replaced the jubilee clips on the flexible fuel lines to and from the filter, and cut one line back a bit, and that sorted out out.
