If you have no meter, then maybe you don't know how to use one.:nenau

However, if you do then the following information may help other visitors to this thread.:thumb2

The worst thing you can do with a multimeter, is to have the connection leads connected into the Amps measuring range, when you are not measuring the current flow in a circuit.

In amps range, the meter creates a short circuit so NEVER try to measure a voltage, when the leads are connected this way.

To measure voltage, either AC or DC or continuity or resistance in ohms, then the leads remain in the same position, and it is always best to leave the meter set up this way, and only move the red lead to the amps socket when actually measuring current.

To use a meter, have a look on youtube, " How to use a multimeter"

There are several videos on voltage, current, continuity etc.

Good luck,
best regards,
Rustic
You are correct. Wouldn't know what to do with one if I did have one.

I had the same symptoms on my saab, turned out the egr valve was stuck open. Stripped off, lots of carb cleaner and been faultless since.

ok, so i have replaced the fuel filter and cleaned the MAF, and no difference, next on the job is egr valve, but i dont know where it is, the pics in the workshop manual are from a maverick i guess, as my engine bay is different

As it's ok when cold & plays up when hot i'm sure this points to the CPS but i'm sure it would have flagged up the MIL light

the EGR is to the rear of the inlet manifold and has a vac pipe going to the top of it, and a S/S pipe about 22 mm diam going behind the head to the exhaust, best to blank it, there is a two bolt flange valve to manifold just inset a bit of tin can in here between the bolts to cover the centre hole, but it is a pig to get to, you say you cleaned your MAF is it Hitachi? if so OK but if Bosch you have probably done more harm than good, Rick

Not sure, dont think mind did.

Anyway, dan called in to mine. I changed fuel line, short section. No air getting in.

Just waiting to see if any change in drive home.

have you checked the wastegate actuator not stuck open, not sure if it will give the symptom your describe but easy to check while your checking other stuff

just got home, zippy has changed fuel line, and no air getting in, still the same tho!

Well I seem to have sorted this issue out. This was all gunked up and wouldn't move so a bit of a clean and some wd40 and it seems to be better. However I now have air getting into fuel line somewhere causing it to run rough and has also got a slight misfire!

this item is your turbo waste gate, it is designed to open if the turbo pressure gets too high, if yours was stuck open I would have expected low power at low revs which is exactly what you have, so well done, Rick

looks like you were spot on mate, well done, Rick
