nissan newbie, clutch adjustment query

Hi, We are soon to pick up a new to us W reg. Terrano, when driving i notice the Clutch pedal is a little higher than the Brake pedal, is this correct ?, or should it be adjusted somewhere ?.

the "salesman" pointed out an adjustable stop that the clutch pedal stops on when the pedal is released, i wonder is it ok to adjust this stop to make the pedal stop a little lower ?.

remove clevis pin connecting master cylinder to pedal .loosen lock nut on the end of master cylinder operating arm turn plate that connect to pedal in or out to adjust in will lower pedal only 2 or 3 turns. take for a spin to make sure clutch operates ok.just put new m/c on mine takes a bit of setting.

Ok Pal, thanks for that, very useful will do that when we eventually get it. I presume the clevis pin is under the dashboard ?, is it easier to take the seat out ?, or perhaps easier for someone a lot younger than i to do it and i'll buy 'em a drink !.

i did with seat in slid right back,me on my back and im 54.you be fine so long as you follow my keep fit regime of weights one day jogging next, nowt on sunday .

Nice one lads, i am 64 and a half ! and i am 65 on Christmas day and i have been looking forward to that specific day for bloody donkeys years. Being made redundant 18 months go helped to soften the "blow" enormously

I can see that this clutch is Hydraulic, but does there have to be a specific free play measurement taken somewhere, i know cars i have had long long ago had a specific free play movement.

So what about the adjustable stop that the clutch pedal stops on, is it ok to adjust that for cosmetic purposes ?.

LHD: 227 - 237 mm (8.94 - 9.33 in)
RHD: 210 - 220 mm (8.27 - 8.66 in)
2. Adjust pedal free play with master cylinder push rod. Then
tighten lock nut.
Pedal free play “A”:
1.0 - 3.0 mm (0.039 - 0.118 i pedal height is from floor pan to top of pedal.

Well now, when is "it" arriving ?, it all depends on how quick my eldest daughter can get the money out of her bank. It is going to be hers, but i know i will be the chief mechanic for it LOL.

My daughter is horse mad, equipped with a horse trailer, but of an age whereby she can't actually tow it !, she has had a couple of bad experiences with her last two motors, both daihatsu fourtrack 2.8 TD's, they failed the MOT very badly and had to be scrapped due to rust, i hope this Terrano lasts longer !

a small teething problem .............

regarding me looking at the clutch adjustment (above) this will have to wait until the weekend in the meantime the Terrano actually arrived today, my daughter commented on a few things that we might have to take issue with, but if i mention it here first i might well know a little more of what to actually complain about.

The clutch pedal is usually in the normal position, level with the brake pedal, but occasionally it jumps up, enough for her to find it difficult to get her foot on the pedal.
