Hi .. newbie here .. :)

Im looking at a private & imported Mistral 2.7tdi Auto on an R plate someone is selling .. had a quick go and all seems nice and smooth .. good tyres - clean angine etc ..

What should i really be looking for to be sure its a reasonable buy .. its done 170k km - do these have cam belts or chains

Also which companies in the UK is good on insuring these imported beasts .. ?

mistral insurance

Try NFU mutual they did me a great deal on my R3mR import last week.

Check the ATF it should be nice and pink and must not be brown or smell burnt.

thanks for the info ...

From your personal experiences what sort of fuel comsumption does the 2.7tdi mistral return ... both urban and on long steady run if possible ?

thanks

long steady run .... around 28 - 30 ...... urban around 24-26

fuel

Ok so my R3mR 2.7 TD Auto is probably heavier but in all honesty my fuel consumption is as folows.

Daily use mostly journey of 5 miles each way summer 21 mpg.
winter 19.00 mpg.

France and back keeping speed to 2,400 rpm in top gear that's around the 60-65 mph mark. - 27 mpg summer, same run to Calais in winter 25 mpg.

If the wife drives it 80 mph whenever possible 22/24 mpg. laden with 4 people and booze stacked to the roof !

Cheap servicing

Run fine on svo / wvo

thanks for all the help on this ...

so would you say £800 is a fair price for a 1998 R reg (import in 2006) LWB 2.7tdi Mistral in VG overall condition ... 170k km ( 107k miles ) good tyres ... drives nice ..

Been checking online but still not sure what insurance group these are with it being an import job .. ?

Tax seems cheap enough though .. :)

If its only done 170 kilometers as thats only around 105000 miles YES :thumbs Its not even run in :lol

My mates dads just picked up a Mistral & the 1 thing i will say, if your the 1st UK owner, give the underneath a bloody good wash followed by wax oil as it could of been at the docks for months on end :(

the speedometer will be in mph , but the trip meter is in kmh .... beware :D

thats poss what i thought ... the clock shows m/ph as the main display for mileage with km/ph as a smaller outer displey ... so does this make it 170k miles ?

or would it not be km/ph being an import ?

confused

thats not what i meant .... i meant the trip meter in the middle which shows distance covered is in kmh

mine has done 149,000km.... i love it to bits , kinda strange to drive at first , but once you get used to the short gearing , its the dogs danglies !!!!!

strange clock layout eh ... lol

so if the total mileage covered shows as 170000 is this km's and not miles ... hence its done approx 105000 miles ?

its a private sale with FSH ... so will have to have a closer look tomorrow before i decide to buy ... ill also look at the last few mot's and current one to see if distance covered is miles and not km's
