Dear friends,

I have just pruchased myself a lovely Nissan Mistral.
She seems a great buy and I am looking forward to enjoying her company, but there are a couple of niggling electrical faults and I was hoping someone here had come accross similar problems and may have some advice.

Firstly, my drivers electric window does not work.
I have a read on here and this does not seem to be unusual!! haha
I've tried the 'bang' trick and nothing seems to happen.
When I push the button to operate the window I can hear a click inside the door, so there is obviously power getting to something in there but nothing happens, any advice?

Secondly (and again I dont think this is unusual either!!) my windscreen wipers wont turn off once they are turned on.
They also only work constantly on intermittant mode whatever I do with the adjuster on the end of the stem.
I had read somewhere on the forums that this could be something as simple as a blown fuse.
Sadly the car came with no manual and I've no idea where the fuse box is or which fuse needs to be checked.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Sim

Hello and Welcome Simble,

Sorry to hear about your electrical problems.

As a not very accomplished 'fixer' I can only re-iterate the advice given to me. Make sure the switch is depressed when you bang the door...

This works for my problem. Sounds like yours may not be of a similar nature though.

Best of luck finding the cure - I'm sure the experts will be along soon to offer some sound advice.

I think this link gives you details of the Mistral fuse box ...

Hi Mistralmac,

Thanks for the welcome.
And thanks for the diagram, that could be very handy indeed!
All I need to do now is find the fusebox!!

Sim

If its the same as mine the fuse box is low down to the right of the steering wheel behind a pop off cover and there is a relay box under the bonnet, back left hand (drivers side) corner.

That's great, thanks so much for the advice.
Anyone have and further advice on the diver's electric window or the wipers?
I have seen is written here that the front wipers have 2 fuses, but on the diagram in the link as above I can only see one fuse listed.
Any further help on either problem would be greatfully recieved.
Thanks

Hi,

Thanks so much for the advice, really appreciated.
When I push the button on the window you get a short 'click' like the motor gets something for a split second and than nothing happens. It's the same when you try it in the other direction.
Once this foul weather clears up I will get out there and have a tinker with the wipers and let you know what happens
Thanks so much again

the gremlins are at it again when somebody hails a new fault it spreads like a virus
coming home from a caravan weekend in the cotswolds flicked on the wiper to clear the screen and they wouldnt stop until i was 1/2 a mile from home :!:

can i get it to do the same now while i can get the bonnet up no such luck.

i reckon it could be the park switch on the motor itself( i assume they have one like the old lucas wiper motors)
but once this rain and wind stops and a bit warmer the a strip down is needed i think
