So plugged in me Nissan Consult ecu reader thingy like this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Nissan-Consul...iagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item43a4e1b5bc
It's little green light is flashing but I can't get any signal on the laptoip:doh
I'm using the ecutalk free software and it worked fine the last time I used it. SOOOO how can I find out which end is at fault, s/w or N/C ?:nenau
I want to sort it so I can get some gas in it :naughty

what happens when you try to use the software? have you had any recent updates to your OS, have you got a firewall blocking the application?? what anti virus do you use..?

It's a laptop I borrowed from Fez. It's not on line and has had nothing done to it or with it since it last worked with the ECUtalk s/w :nenau

Try changing the com port setting in ECU talk,..
If that won't work give me a call any time tomorrow.

Can you expand on that for a computer dunce to tackle :augie:rolleyes:
I did try and change the comm port but there was only COMM1 avail?

If only one com port shows up then that's probably the correct one.

What com port number shows up? 1,2,3,4.....?
Is it on a USB connected serial port or a direct com port?
Maybe a stupid question but, have you got the ignition switched on?

Hi Ray, shows Comm1, it's serial cable straight fcrom Nissan Consult gizmo to the serfial port of the lappy.
Ign turned on and green light flashes on the gizmo at that time. goes off with ign.:thumbs

ok,...
does the light flash without ECUtalk running? or does it only flash when you select the com port?
I am not totally familiar with the cable assy you have,... however the "green" light is probably indicating active serial comms, as such that suggests the unit is sort of working.
Right now my best guess is that you do not have the baud rate set at 9600 bps, if it is set to any other speed (1200,2400 etc...) then the green flashing light will still flash happily but the computer wont play ball.

Check the BAUD rate settings for com1.

Ah yes I've been told to mind my bauds before :lol
I'll be off now to sort, cheers :thumbs
Oh the little green light will happily flash without the laptop connected ;)

Sorted, cheers Ray, damn bauds :augie
Anyway I have retrieved codes 34 Needle lift sensor and code 43 Accelerator position sensor.
Bugger

Does anybody have any ecu talk logs of the terrano 2 running properly @ 2/3000 rpm, i`m trying to nail down a problem?

I've got some logs but wouldn't say they're ok :augie
I'll post one and you can see:thumbs

anybody ?
I am traveling right now, so have limited resources. I do have some log files at home but they will be for my ZD30, so I am not sure they would prove useful?
What parameters are you looking to compare?

I'll be back in the UK Tuesday of next week so may be able to help you better then, meantime I'll be checking in as and when I am able.

Ray

Generally i would like to see somebody else's logs for running between 2/3000 rpm, the car has the well documented problems of loss of power, smoking and mil light coming on in this rev range, of course the remedial steps have been taken (following the many posts on this problem) but it`s still there, i`m hoping comparing a good log to my present ones will highlight where the real fault is.Going out to do another run soon and will post a relevant log just to see if anybody can spot the fault

Are there any DTC's being logged when this event occurs?

it will be helpful if you tell us which parameters you had selected for logging!

There have been problems of this nature resolved by replacing the valve on the fuel return line. (ball bearing and spring)
The theory being that the spring becomes weak allowing a much to high bypass rate so the pressure within the IP is reduced to the point where the control sleeve is unable to attain the required position. This could cause the fault code that is logged.
You might try putting a temporary restriction in the return fuel line, then see if this alters the state of affairs.
