i phoned them this evening, (glad i was sitting down) ok no jokes, i asked for a quote for a l/r discovery td5, 1999 completely standard, drivers, me, wife, son (32) all with full NCB, no offences or convictions, full comp protected etc
£710 year, i now know what nfu stands for, no fu**ing use :lol,

looked in l/r magazine picked on out exactly the same, £227. :thumbs

best online quote go compare. etc for ex on a rover 420 no no claims but no claims in 5 years as named driver. 3 points 900 quid

nfu 430.

turns out she has 9 points so she fcked it anyway

I have never found NFU to be very helpfull either, I couldn't even get them to quote for farm livestock insurance. :doh so what is the point?

im wondering if the nfu like rural locations, glad i was sitting down though, they are dearest quote i've ever had, :doh:eek:

Well NFU for me every time. I think they are brill.
It isn't just the price, which they are certainly very competative on, but it is the ease of dealing with them. They are so easy to talk to and don't ask dumbass questions.
Having said that, whatever company you mention someone will tell you of both good and bad experiences.

i wonder why they are so expensive for my motor and some say they are cheap, and plank couldn't get a quote for livestock, how do you work that one out, national farmers union and would quote livestock, strange. :nenau

I got mine for a little over £350 fully comp from Sheila's Wheels :thumb2

i had a quote from sureterm 4x4 specialist insurance so they say....................£2000

NFU need to get their act together.
i asked them for a quote and i make no bones in people knowing that i manage a large gun shop in north east london.
as soon as i tell them this they refuse to insure me.
all because i may have a gun in the car at some point, f@ckin eeejits!

every farmer i know has a gun of some sort and surely the NFU know that it is illegal to leave your firearm or shotgun unattended in ya car!

so with this in mind are all those farmers that are insured with NFU insured correctly?

makes me feel like a 2nd class citezen even though i am probably one of the most law abiding one's due to my job.

Regarding insurance, check your documents very carefully when they arrive. Ever had a company knock a large amount off their quote ? I did but when it came time to renew I discovered they had removed my convictions to make the quote lower. I don't know if this is common practice and it was afew years ago, just make sure you get what you're paying for ! I've been with Direct Line for around 5 years as they are consistantly cheapest.

I use admiral multi-car, just renewed last week.
My car plus the wifes with protected no claims and breakdown cover.
£413 fully comp:thumb2

i pay £800+ with 9 year noclaims and a clean licence, i went on confused and insurance superarket for quotes

co-op cis used to be cheap when i had normal ins it didnt seem what vehicle i threw at them they charged £300 lol

insurance

i have just cancelled my policy and will receive approx £225 back, this company has insured my discovery td5 full comp, for me, wife and son (32) £227 for the year, they don't use your ncb, but will hold them for you in case you need them at a later date.:thumbs

i got this company from a 4x4 magazine.

N.F.U. insurance

Just shows you how volatile the Insurance market must be I went with NFU last year on my wifes R3mR and the price was very competative and cheaper than her previous insurance with Hyperformance via Adrian Flux. Lower excess on glass cover as well !

It might be that your local NFU office is letting you down I rang the Derby Office and as they were busy my call was diverted automatically after a few rings to the Mansfield Office and the bloke was brilliant.

He rang back when he said he would and could not have worked harder for the business. Wife only had 1 years NCB having made a claim 18 months previously that was her fault so it was not going to be cheap she paid £434 in the end some £300 less than Adrian Flux could manage (Fully comp).

That why it pays to shop around every year. Did a recent renewal on my Mums car was with Direct Line now Liverpool & Victoria for £120 less for identical cover.

Myself & partner 4yrs NCB on my 93 plate Troll, £207, Sureterm direct, only 5000 mile limit though.

Nellie.
