the ramblers forget they are roads after all just not surfaced roads, on most old OS maps they are shown as RUPPs or roads used as public paths the clue for the ramble, its a road

tbf must rupps have been down graded to bridle ways or footpaths in derbyshire,
some have become restricted byways, which is another confusing name to say
not a byway, as in by way open to all traffic (boat).
that said in derbyshire we have probably gained as many routes as lost due to the
new classification orpa other route public access, though not all have vehicular
access so reseach is needed.
