Hi I just bought a nice y reg terrano which I started first time from cold this morning, she ran a little rough to begin but soon smoothed out, I noticed a beep from back end every few seconds which seemed to disappear after a while any ideas guys?

I am used to driving a 240bhp zafira turbo which was a money pit lol, I am happy to say this terrano pulls surprisingly well so it's impressing so far

Hi morning dude,

I would have said your glow plugs will be on their way out, when mine got bad I had to do two turns of the key, when the amber light goes out for the glow plugs it is still doing a secondary warm, when your hear a loud click about 15/20 seconds later It has then turned off. I tend to give it two of those 20 second turns, this will massively heat up the plugs, and if it starts fine you know they are on their way out.

Symptoms include coughing, spluttering, smoke when cold, longer cranking to get started :thumb2

I have no idea about the beep though, someone else will be along to assist I'm sure.

Welcome btw

Cheers mate good to be on here will sign up soon as this seems to be a nice group of people on here!

I did wonder if beep was rear door warning but surely it would have gone off lol

Got a few things to sort before I spend signing up but I will Def do so, next incline is service I do most of my own stuff so I know it's done properly lol, coolant in these is the old blue isn't it, not the newer pink oat stuff? And 15w40 oil

Howdy, would be best to pay yer tenner. All your questions will be answered. Plus you get access to the technical sections.Well worth the money, Members on here have a wealth of other skills, so can help in other areas. ..

Meat saws, central heating, double glazing locks, steam engines, generators......and so much more, I love it......:thumb2

It`s worth the tenner just for the entertainment value, without the encycolpeadia of knowledge contained on one forum.....:thumb2:thumb2

Hi welcome to the forum.
What model Terrano is it?
2.7 td, 2.7tdi ie with intercooler, with vent on bonnet.
What year?

Later models have the alarm sounder in the nearside rear quarter, behind the trim.
Earlier ones don't have one.

The trailer wiring is normally done on the rear near side, but I guess someone might have started on the off side, with the indicator buzzer may have lost it's earth.

No don't use the red/pink oat coolant in these trucks blue or green antifreeze is fine as for oil most use 10W40 mineral or semi some do use 5W30 tho:augie old style engines so you don't need any of the costly modern stuff:thumb2

Cheers guys, I will definitely be signing up next meeting month, got so much to pay out for this month the trouble and strife would kill me haha:doh
