Hi all,
Bought a Terrano II tdi yesterday and haven't been so excited about a second hand car since my Capri days! And I love that there's an owner's club, so I thought I'd be polite and say hi before I start reading.

Never had a 4x4 before and am a bit apprehensive, but needed a new 7 seater after yet another Seat Alhambra died on me. As soon as I researched Terranos I just had to get one. I've spent most of today tinkering with it and ordering accessories...haven't really done that with a motor since my twenties.

Anyway looking forward to chatting with some of you and learning more about my "Terry". Yes, I have named him thus, much to the kids' amusement and wife's weary shake of the head.

Welcome Soton Lad, great craic here, and super folk......so much accumulated wisdom it's unbelievable. .........:thumb2

Welcome.

They're a bit nuts on here and the jokes range from dire to awful (just kiddin' Briggie).

Ask away!

How do, I was there last weekend, west quays shopping. Dull !!!

Welcome to the mad house

Welcome to the forum from up North. :thumbs

welcome lad,if you want the full service pay a tenner to give you full access.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes. Couple of responses to the above...

Yes, ha, West Quay shopping is a dull, even soulless experience.
Definitely will post some pics of Terry over the weekend.

And will also definitely be paying my tenner. I think I've just potentially saved a couple of hundred quid already, having read one post in the electrics thread. I took the factory radio out today to suss out how easy to replace it would be (no display, which I've learned from here is a common fault).

Anyway, I've ordered a nice Sony and (hopefully) the right adaptor and thought it pointless putting the old one back in...

Until I read about someone here who did similar , left it out for a week and found the immobilser considered it stolen and locked up the vehicle. 190 quid later the Nissan dealer had freed it and sorted a new key etcetera.

Cue a bemused wife as I rushed out into the rainy darkness and put it back in by interior and torch light.

So, if that's saved me 200 quid I am very glad to have discovered these parts and more than happy to hand over a tenner in a mo.
:)

Welcome aboard again in that case :lol

Get your self into the downloads section within quick links button. Stacks more info there too.

Is yours the radio with the hazard light switch built in?

Ask as many questions as you need to, we've probably got more knowledge about terraos on here than the whole of the Nissan dealer network.

Enjoy! :thumbs

Thanks for the tip, I'll head to the downloads next.

No, luckily (as I've ascertained from reading around) I've got the other fascia. Two screws in the ashtray slot, two more higher up and just pulls off. Didn't have to unplug anything either to get to the radio. I was very pleasantly surprised at how easy it was and fell in love with vehicle a little bit more....I'm falling hard,ha ha.

Oh yeah these trucks are pretty good. My original truck is used by my wife who carries the dogs around in a cage. I used it yesterday to tow my new project home on the back of a trailer, 20 years old and it performed faultlessly. Last June I used it to tow another terrano home on a trailer, this truck became my project and again my original truck did this effortlessly.
Wait until uncle Rustic pops in to say hello, rumour has it his truck is even older:lol

Oh yeah theres banter on here too:doh

Biggest problem these trucks suffer from is the tin worm but nothing that can't sorted.

As for your radio if it's the earlier single din unit like fitted in my trucks you may get away with not having it fitted. Removed the radio and fitted another in my T reg project truck without any issues at all. My original truck is an R reg and the radio was removed not long after I bought the truck for the display repairing, so the radio was missing for about two weeks again without issue.

my 98 t2 had an alfa remao radio fitted no code so took it out and fitted a face one to fill gap,no problem at all.i drove a few weeks with no radio.cost 18 from bay, looks ok sounds ok.
