Ahhhh, ok, will have to rethink this then.......
My head has lead me to think the back of the Ignition, everything shows on the turn of the key until i try to last click, hopefully it is the back of there........ Odd how it won't reset MIL codes though........ (just realised i am sat talking out loud through a laptop, i do apologise!)

...28 Cooling Fan Circuit (same again, see what the multimeter says)...

Hi and welcome to the site.
I just picked up on the above code, as far as I am aware the 2.7tdi had a viscous fan, so where does this code come from?
I have not looked at the service manual, that's on our site, any one know about this, if so what can trigger it?

I guess over heating, but must have been provision for an electric fan for the 2.7tdi diesel..
Seems very odd to me...

You also mentioned the knock sensor, which Rick has picked up on...
I have to ask the obvious question... is it petrol or diesel? Why would a diesel ECU be programmed with codes for a petrol version, they are totally different engines?:nenau

Ow do there! I'm Crow and i'm from Cambridge way, got miself a Terrano 2.7 97 Manual back in November. Absolutely love it other than the fact it has been off the road since 28th November when i get recovered back from London. Head gasket as i though but then discovered two cracks in the head, cue top end rebuild by a "Friend" who is ex AA. It has gone from bad to worse, having to take the Garage near Haverhill to court over it as they would not respond, the fella i got to do the job doing nothing when he said he would (getting the head tested so i can build the case against them, rebuilding the starter, having it done by christmas, etc.......), so i sacked him off after he rebuilt the starter eventually and then promptly burnt it out completely with cranking it over too much (voltage drop, amp increase!). My partner asked him what had caused it to burn out, to which he said "well, i dunno!" (Kt knew full well what causes it to die  .
So here i am with a hat full of fault codes and hope diminishing with the midwinter daylight................ A night in with t'laptop it is then....
Thank you for letting me join yer wonderful group, sorry for not posting a pic of Terrano-sore-arse, i just can't bare to she her sooooooooo sad!
May yer Diesel be bug-less and yer filters flow freely, Crow

Welcome mate :thumb2

Are you cambridge educated? you certainly sound it :thumbs

Hope you get it fixed mate but we'll be here to help along the way, get lots of pics of the re-build if you can, it's interesting for the members that don't really get the spanners out :thumb2

Ello and thank you, was (is?) tidy as, other than the roadside dramas, gonna keep on until the sod runs but i do respect your nod towards Rick and will most certainly consider that if needs be.I am a bit of a stubborn one!
Nowt wrong with being stubborn. You'll know it inside out when you've finally sorted it and that is a very good thing. All the best.

Nice one Ian :thumb2 Just been going through the previous electrical threads and found the proppa gem with the Starter Motor, cheered me up no end...... Think i'm gonna like it 'ere :thumbs:clap

Defo viscous fan not electrical cooling fan unless modded but if it was modded it wouldn't show on ecu codes.

So what's current state of play?

Nice one Banshee! :thumb2 Will most certainly get the pics up soon, took plenty of them along the way fer sure :freak3: As fer Cambridge Educated.... More of a Dorset Hedgemonkey really, washed up here 7 years ago and only Naaaarfak mates understand me :D
Wicked reading through yer Terrano Modding, top stuff, still got a bit more to read through yet though, cheers fella, c

Currently i am enjoying being on here and smiling lots! I shall update as soon as the day dawns..... Thinking that when it was cranked over and starter burnt out that the notoriously iffy ignition gremlin got in there. Will bugger about in the morning, bearing in mind that "Wingnut the Mechanic" also left the sodding d/s window open one night and it chucked it down, (glad he is gone ffs!), so more than possible there is more moisture than an Otters Pocket in there. Will set up a push button start if so , cheers fella, c
