ah, so the engine turns over, but no EML light or Glow plug light and it doesn't start?

again, did you confirm the bulbs work ok for the EML and GP?

The timer is part of the GP solenoid setup . It's all stuffed in the off side wing beside the battery :thumbs
I think the EML is an LED isn't it ?

Just looked through the thread, no GP light so OK could be GP problem but even with no GP it will start eventually, but seems this is not happening, so TDi reckon it has to be the ignition switch, please do not go fiddling with the ECU it is NATS 2 and will block you out even with the correct key if you mess with it, Rick

yes thats correct, no EML or glow plug light,
checked both lamps, ok
yes it has got the dreaded NATS 2 !
i wondered if its that that's not powering up the ecu
got a mate coming tomorrow with a code reader, but i think we will need a 16 to 14 pin adapter

read the codes with a paper clip ...... its in the quick links :thumb2

that's the problem, no eml light = no fault codes,
just hope the code reader will work if the ecu has no power to it

Where in the post did he say that?:nenau

He didn't...:doh:doh

But you have to look at other posts to find the answer.:doh:doh

Why do we have two posts on the same subject, both open at the same time?

:doh

Would be nice to complete posts for future reference, especially on searches, which I have done recently for other members.:thumbs

sorry about the quick post,
but i had to put it all back together to get to work,
yes it was a dodgy relay for the ecu (intermittent fault)
