Hello folks,
I'm Mike, from Dumfries, Scotland. I'm here because i'm eyeing up a Nissan Terrano as my future car looking to rid myself of a troublesome landy! :doh

I'm hoping to find some kind and experienced people here, can I draw upon your wealth of knowledge?

My main query is this...Terrano 2.7 or 3.0?
I tow a horsebox and do lots of miles.

Welcome mate.
I'm in dunfermline.
Get a 2.7, iv got one and run it on veg oil.
They are a bit more common than the 3 litres.
To give it extra boost, buy a diesel chip.
Just check for rust on sills and front crossmember.
This is a great forum, everything here to keep you right.

Welcome and as said get a 2.7 if you want to run non diesel, the later 3 is OK got loads of grunt but has a troublesome pump and must be run on pure diesel, put anything else in it and it will die, early ones had a piston problem not sure of the cut off year but a search on here will tell you, Rick

2.7 is ace, not had 3.0 but I do know it has a bit better mpg. If you're towing don't get auto which ever engine. As said main thing to look for is rust, if youre handy or know someone that is the rust usually isn't too much of a job to fix up.

Ignore the heathen troglodytes, nothing wrong with the 3.0di, will pull a house down, and you don't need to muck about with it to get 150hp.

If you're towing, go manual only. Mine recently towed Ivor Williams with two hosses, no bother.

You're going to love the Terrano, won't need half the TLC your landy demands :doh

I'm obviously biased but I'm a fan of the 2.7TDi, I've had 2 now and they are great, I run mine on home made B100 BioDiesel but when I don't have any made up, it's a quick trip down to Bookers Cash & Carry and I pour in new Vegetable Oil at 62p/l :thumb2

I've not driven a 3.0DI (unless Robs Patrol counts :nenau ) but I've heard they are a lot more refined and a little bit more powerful

Like Banshee says, I've got a Trol so can't offer much advice on the Terrano engines. I would say I have no complaints about my 3.0 engine though :nenau

Welcome to the club, I have had both, a 2.7 and now a 3.0 and can say the 3.0 has more pull and is more refined. Both engines are very good and as already said, you can run the 2.7 on cooking oil, if you don't mind messing around at fill time.
These trucks do rust so have a good check on the front wheel arches, rear boot area floor, cills and up in the rear wheel arches where it meets the inner floor.
