Hello all, Just Googled Terrano Owners' Club and came across this site, thought I'd join up and get some good information before splashing the cash! I have just changed my caravan and now think I'd like something a bit chunkier to tow it with. A SWB Terrano of mid 90's vintage, pref a diesel auto, not worried if it's a Japanese import:thumbs. Also decided it's time to sell my lovely Suzuki V-Strom 650 as I daren't risk further damage to my back after I broke it a year ago  A friend has a 98 LWB manual and looks after 7 or 8 others so I will be enlisting his help when viewing prospective purchases. Based in Wantage, Oxon.

Quite a few tow vans on here ,tow easily at 60 mph pending weight of van.very stable my lwb/buccaneer combo dont know about swb never drove one towing

I tow a 1500kg Abbey Archway Royale 520 (4 berth, end washroom, single axle) with my '98 SWB, and aside from being a little slower away from the lights (to be expected) and occasionally needing to change down on hills, you don't even know it's there. And I get 24-28mpg when towing...

I have a SWb Terrano 2.7, 1997. I tow (well, have towed it home at least) a Elddis Swift. Its only a little caravan, think its about 6/700Kg, max weight is 800 anyway, and when people say you cant tell its there, they arnt wrong, I really couldnt tell it was there! I towed it hoem from Manchester to Huddersfield, up the M62, and was regularly hitting 60+ without realising, brilliant!

I have seen a fair few Terranos for sale, SWB's, so have a look at EBAY and Autotrader!

good luck!

I was converted over to the Terrano way of life this year.Main needs-Tow a swift challenger approx 1500kg & just become foster parents so needed a 7 seater.Previous towcar was a hyundai tucson, had a few brown trouser moments so decided to up the bar to a 2001 T2.Never looked back since!Lot's of grunt, loads of space, low outlay in comparison to some of the tug's out there plus a great owners forum!Woodyc.

I bought my Terrano 2.7 LWB specifically for towing a caravan. Originally I wanted a Jeep Cherokee, but I am more than happy with the T2 when towing my c1500kg van. I get around an average of 20mpg when doing so at a comfortable 55/60 mph on motorways and careful piloting on other roads.

I think they make a good solid towcar, which shouln't have to many problems with most sizes of caravan available.

Tell me about this friend of your Piglumps - is he a kosher mechanic or an interested amateur? Although I live in West Wales I'm over in Milton village during the week (Culham as of the 29th) and still looking for a decent mechanic for those things I don't have time to do!! cheers PAUL
