Hi

First post, please be gentle etc :lol

I'm Nigel, nearly very nearly middle aged. Full time pro photographer with a passion for Springer Spaniels, Mountain Biking, Man City and (ahem) Caravanning (useful if you like venturing into Wales and The Lakes to do some cycling, that's my excuse anyway)

Currently driving a Freelander 1 which I'll be selling soon to be replaced with a Pathfinder. Just bought a bigger caravan, too big for the Freelander as it turns out. If you were stuck behind us last month on the A30 hills heading into Cornwall, I apologise.

Have done loads of research into what to get to replace the FL. Pondered over an ML270, Kia Sorento, Volvo XC90 and BMW X5 but have finally decided on an early Pathfinder (auto). Have about 9-9.5K to spend.

I'll no doubt be posting on the forum with some questions when the new truck has been bought

Ta for now :thumb2

Hi mate, you've came to the right club:thumbs there's lots of friendly people here. I'm also a pro Photographer :D.

Hi, lots of us here have caravans athough not a lot have Pathfinders I think...... regards. Bri

Thanks for the welcome. Hope to make the purchase in the next week or two. Turns out that a post April 2006 with the higher VED works out more cost effective than an 05 plate with lower tax. Sellers know this is a selling point and apply a premium to the earlier cars. Easier to negotiate some money off for the later cars which could cancel out the VED difference. Horses for courses, hopefully.

Bri, where in the Lakes do you live? We (the wife and me) love the Lakes and are looking to move up there in about 3 years from now. We'd move now if we could but finances/work doesn't allow. Hopeing to live around Keswick/Threlkeld.

Ask for advice before you buy then you'll get whats right for your needs.
Freelander a 4x4, oxyboron I think. David.

There is the odd one or two of us with a pathfinder

Hello and welcome

Get a terrano 2 2.7 lwb for towing :lol

I saw a couple the other day at my local cricket club with an 03 terrano 3.0 sve and they said they were trading it back in for a 2.7 as the gear ratios were better suited for towing a van, they said they wouldnt have anything else for caravaning

nicely put stinka, agreed for normal sized uk caravans the t2 is king.

mine's great with 20foot of twin axle on the back, many here swear by them.
