Driving to work this morning my windscreen has decided to give up on life.
Id rather not go through the insurance company, so while I try to find one locally does anybody know of any decent online suppliers?

Not really local to you but Halifax Windscreens quoted me about £130 if I remember correctly. So other companies should be able to offer similar prices.

Incidentally if you choose to go through your insurance company they will class it as a claim and inflate your premium as will any other company. Even a chip repair is the same.

i had one replaced by national windscreens cost £150 fitted back in june this year

Be very careful, my wife had a replacement via Autoglass, but did not have windscreen cover. Even though we said we were not doing it via insurance, they insisted on taking the name of the insurance company, saying they just wanted to check for us, as many people were covered but did not know. They charged her £150 and did the job.

Not long after that we moved house and then just over a year later we received court proceedings for the remaining £280, plus all sorts of costs...

Dispite all sorts of communications, because it had all been carried out over the phone and then direct with the fitter it was our word against theirs and the insisted they had told us that if they could not recover the money from the insurance company, they would bill us dirrect. Then when you read through the A4 page of very small print terms and conditions on the back of the form you signed to say he had compleated the work, you had also agreed to this.

Very underhanded.

Got booked in with a local company first thing tomorrow morning. £121.00 inc vat for new screen and fitting. Im sure insurance excess was £75 and then the sting when renewal comes round, if I keep telling myself im getting off likely it makes a new screen easier to swallow. :lol
Will keep my mouth shut when it come to insurance tomorrow too so thanks for the heads up.

I’m interested to know if they just one type of screen or if they can get the different tints and shaded areas at top of screen.

Well when ordering my screen I was asked if it was the version that had a sun visor strip across the top. Must have more than one configuration atleast.
