New wheels and tyres...

I've recently spent a couple of evenings hand sanding, (fine grade wet and dry), and giving a couple of coats of silver smoothrite to the 5x T2 steels that I bought off Eblag. I bought 1x new Kumho KL71 (235 75 R15) and 4x nearly new KL71's (cheers Elty) and had them all fitted whilst away at my Brothers. The truck looks alot better now, much more purposeful. It was nice to bin the old 6 spoke alloys with 5 different tyres on ! I drove back from Warwickshire to Plymouth today, and apart from being a tad noisy, they were spot-on on the road. Haven't had a chance to test them off road yet, but will let you know. I'll take a piccy tomorrow and post it on here...

Here's a couple of pics of the new wheels and tyres. Just out of interest, the journey to Warwickshire on the old set was 206 miles, and the journey back was only 199 miles !

One more, and yes, the truck is ALOT cleaner. It got into the previous state after a days laning. I'm looking forward to seeing how the new tyres perform, although to be fair, the Mav did really well on the old ATs, so I'm going to be alot better off now ! :thumb2

Thanks Elty,

I've jet washed them a couple of times, and pinched some brush on tyre dressing from Craig. Now they're all shiny, I can't wait to get them muddy !

they performed well off road when i had them on my truck,
if i could have afforded it i would have got a set in 31"but i'm still impressed with the new tyres iv'e got on.
it was ground clearance that stopped me when out laning with ian the other week.
i was being a bit adventurous as iv'e not been out for a while.at least i know what i can and can't do in my truck but youv'e got to try:lol:lol

To much rubbing when washing !, you have worn your bullbar down to nothing ,

I took the bull bars off whilst replacing the radiator, started looking at how it was fitted and before I knew it, it was off ! :doh

I've still got the water pump to replace, then I'll refit it with new fixings. It's on my list of jobs to do before we go to France !

Went out for a drive in the snow last night around Dartmoor. On icy / snow covered roads / lanes / tracks, these tyres were excellent. Loads of grip and very confidence inspiring. And yes, I did forget the camera ! (Muppet) :doh
