Welcome matey

Where about's in the Midlands are you? I'm in the Midlands myself :thumbs

Firstly you have a choice to make SWB or LWB and then there's a choice of 2.4, 2.7 and 3.0 depending on the age you go for. I'm biased and would say the SWB 2.7 is the best as it's better for not getting stuck when off roading and also the 2.7 is the only 1 of the 3 engines that you can run on vegetable oil if you're interested in saving a packet on fuel bills :naughty

Only real problems with them is the dreaded rust, check the wheel arches, bulkhead, around the back door and rear floor pan especially around the seatbelt area on the wheel arch, if they wont let you lift the carpets to have a look then yank on the seatbelts hard. If they feel crunchy or make a noise then its def time to walk away or pull the carpets.

If it's the 2.7 that you're going for then it's generally accepted that the ones fitted with the Bosch MAF and Bosch Injector Pump are stronger and a tad more powerful in terms of power delivery.

If I think of anything else I'll chirp up, I'm sure the rest of the clan will be along soon :thumb2

AVOID!!!!!

Just rang him, questioned him about the welding and it was all, eh uh em urgg em ur I don't know to be honest mate, at which point I questioned the solid throughout and no rust issues and he knew he'd lost me.

No longer the cheery salesman, more like the embarrassed crook, knew something was fishy the first time round I rang him

No wonder he only wants £1000 for it :lol

It had sold at just over £1100 earlier in the month, so for some reason.... it's back on the market. Maybe... buyer didn't like what he saw.

See ebay, "completed listings" for that seller...
Looks like it will possibly need more cash spending on it, before next 'MOT'
It's great being able to look at past MOT's looks like it has had a new odometer too.

That might be genuine though as we know that vintage is prone to killing it's LCD panel (we have a fix for that :naughty )

Hi mate,

Did you have a price in mind for new truck? Might help people with advice if they know a rough budget.

Welcome aboard. As said look out for rust, most of these trucks rust. Wings, don't worry about but the real bad places are sills and inside wheel arches front and rear. If you are handy with a welder they are usually easy fixes though. If you want to tow go for a manual as the capacity is higher tho the autobox is nice and doesn't stop you towing. 3 litre gets better mpg as well as power but may be not as strong as the 2.7. Personally I wouldn't touch the 2.4 petrols but they're mainly older trucks now.

Hello and welcome mate, 2.7 diesel is most common engine, gear driven timing and from my experience very hard to bust!! As jim said manuals have a higher towing capacity, and a Lwb would be better for that too. Metallic green ones are the bestest, especially if the lower plastics are in gold, but that's obvious :D

Seriously tho like everybody says, check for rust, there are LOADS of threads on here, a lot with great pictures too so you won't have any trouble identifying the places to look. Drivers window reg went on mine and now nsr one too but well under £100 for a new one. One other thing I have had trouble with which seems a common fault is speedo/rev counter problems, mine started sticking so I tried a fix I found on here and only done it once since, that was a while ago too, a lot of LCD displays go but mine is ok. Stereo LCD's too. Oh yeh, front anti roll bar drop links wear quite fast and make them handle like boats, cheap fix.

I love my terrano, it can do anything, very VERY capable off road, tows my 1600kg caravan no problems, surprisingly good manners on the back roads, great on motorways and an awesome daily driver!!, and it's green over gold, it's EPIC :lol :thumb2

Hello

Another member put this very useful link up but could not find it so I have added it again. Would not buy a car now without looking at it first, knowledge is power :)

Good luck with the search
