Head gasket is a big leap from dipstick o-ring aye
I've got a box with all size o-rings if you want me to post you a few out gravy :thumb2

It was piston rings on mine when the dip stick wouldn't stay put

Same issue with mine, the dipstick is staying put but oil is getting past the o ring.
Had this on a couple of terranos.
Chris is going to fit a new o ring, clean the oil off the engine and keep an eye on it.
If the leak is still there then i think the next port of call will be the oil cooler and associated pipe work on the side of the block behind the starter motor.

sorry, been busy with work!

Thanks again for your help at the weekend, it put my mind to rest that I hadn't bought a total nail.

I have a box of o rings from working on my Vespa, but it's sods law that none of them fit! I have wrapped a bit of electric tape around the top of the dipstick for now which has given it a nice snug fit, so I'll keep an eye on it and see if it helps

So, I just passed another Terrano on the road today for the first time since owning one.

The other driver was grinning like he'd found gold and giving me the thumbs up.

Is it common for Terrano drivers to salute each other in this way?

He caught me by surprise so I only managed a half-hearted wave in reply
