ok from my other post i have just fitted +2" rough country shocks to the old girl and want to get new rear springs should i get the 20% stiffer springs from millers or go for standard springs i dont want the rear to feel to harsh but i have asked 1 motor factor near me for some springs and there is only 1 spring listed for both swb and lwb 1 have lwb but have heard that the miller springs on a swb gives 1.5" lift but makes it harsh so will it be harsh on a lwb

If you had 2" extended shocks then go for 2" extended springs. then you will have a 2" lift.

Yes but will that only push ride height to 2"higher then standard or be even higher if u c what I mean also what r +2" springs like when towing

If you have a SWB and you put on LWB springs then you will get extra ride height as the springs are made for the extra weight of the LWB.

You will get a more harsh ride by putting on harder shocks more than the springs because its the shocks that take the bounce out of the truck giving it more of a thump when you go over things. If you use normal shocks you will get more of a floating ride as they will allow the spring more compression.

If they are 2" extended then yes it will only increase the ride height by 2" as well.

As for towing, it wont increase what you can tow, but it may assist in how you load the towed vehicle. You will get away with it being more front heavy as the springs will absorbed the weight.

Milner's 20% coils are std ht but 20% stronger/heavyduty etc. They will not increase your ride ht, other than if your old ones were saggy.
So the only way is to get a new pair of coils +2" from the likes of Blood Red offroad. They will keep the same road manners but lift your truck 2" :thumbs
There's also a cheap skate way, and that's to put coil spacers in :(

if you want the lift go for blood red offroad springs, Only way to do it properly.

They are actually longer to give the lift, rather than stiffer like the LWB springs.

Just fitted the Milners +20% stiffer to my T2 LWB last week with KYB Gas monotube shocks.
They are in no way harsh and the new shocks and springs have turned the rear end from an unpredictable bounce when going sideeways round a corner in to a nice controllable drift ala MX5 style :lol
Can't recommend renewing 100K mile old shocks and springs enough irrespective of what you end up using!

does it not make the truck sit high at the rear?

did it raise the rear end up if so what measurements do u get from ground to middle of the rear arch i went for millers 20% stiffer springs in the end as nissan wanted £288 for both and millers £67 delivered:thumbs

It'll only raise the ride ht up from the saggy springs ht, NOT the Nissan spec ht.

Yes it did raise the rear but as also stated above I believe it has returned it to standard ride height from saggy spring height.

The previous owner had already adjusted the front torsion bars to make it level with the saggy arse end so that's my next job, to re-adjust the front torsion bars to level it all off.

My headlight aim after doing the rear springs and shocks went from perfect to below acceptable MOT aim to give you some idea of how much the rear came up!

I'll measure the height to the arch tomorrow.

Cool thanks for the info will wait to c what ur ride height is now at the back thanks again.

Not forgotten to measure it but my gearbox oil arrived tonight so had to prioritise that job before I left work.
Park on a curb outside the house so it's not much use going to do it just now :lol
Should get it done tomorrow as I need that measurement as a reference point for setting the torsion bars this weekend!

You will need spring compressors, other wise the spring will keep expanding and prevent them coming off. It wont matter how high you jack it if not.

I stand correct. Makeitfit will know more than me so i bow to him and doth my cap.:thumbs

Well took 25mins to do both sides all I did was disconnected the drop link ball joint then jacked the chassis up seams I have +2" shocks once rear wheel was off ground the spring just pulled out which was nice.:lol:thumbs
