I'd cut back the over rider bit so it's narrower. then move the lights outward. that'll let you mount the main bar higher so it looks better just under the door line. Even more clearance then and it'll look like it's meant to be there :D
The grommets should easily be found in a scrap yard ;)

Would you believe the rear door only just opens!! So no more lifting there. Are you on about cutting the corners off?

Nah, that Tirfor winch is a bad boy! Rick was checking it out yesterday and he was impressed with it.

I'm wondering if I put a cable in the front for "winching" if it would count :nenau

:rolleyes :Bud that's pretty much no different from having a cable on a front recovery point - a winch bumper has a winch, it's in the name! :doh

Remember bud your talking about making your vehicle non-road legal in the eyes of the law.

Even if you don't get stopped think of what would happen if you had an accident as I bet your insurance company would wash their hands and so you'd have no insurance never mind anything else :nenau

Up to you at the end of the day but I wouldn't be risking it

Right, cleared this up, spoke to the insurance company as a "maybe" question :augie

He could not answer me so spoke to underwriter, who also had no idea. They said they would call me back. 4 hours later they call, and gave me the good news :D

I explained in detail what the bumpers were, I made the joke and said as I work in the trade I wouldn't claim anyway, he uh. Made a good joke back and said "well I think the other car would get written off anyway" :lol

I told them to consider them fitted as I'm gonna do it ASAP :sly

Also got call recorded :thumb2

Well if your underwriter is happy for them to be fitted then all is good:thumbs With your rear bumper you might be able to trim off the top part of the old bumper to use as an infill above the steel bumper if you wanted a bit more of a factory look to the rear corners

I must admit the look has grown on me, at first i thought, hmmm looks pretty extreme and a little strange but ive gotta admit I love it :D

Alex bud just 'cos they work for the insurance company doesn't mean they can give you an all clear as far as the law is concerned :doh or that the insurance company will definitely pay out if your vehicle is found to be non road legal.

There's plenty info on the net about it so I'm not gonna say any more I just hope you don't have to put that recorded phonecall to the test for the sake of buying a cheap winch to stick on the bumper (nobody said you had to use it).

I think unfortunately that's what I'm gonna have to do. Even if its a crappy hand wind winch :p

Obviously hidden behind the bumper

:thumb2 behind/back of the bumper is the best place for them anyway just mind a slot for a fairlead of some sort so it at least looks usable.
