HI all

Hope i can explain this properly
2004 terrano 2.7tdi

put it into 4wd yesterday and when i tried moving forward on say 3/4 right lock it kept jamming like a diff was locked. Also when in 2wd i get a large clunk from the front when on full lock. Bit of a long shot but any common probs to look for?

Cheers

someone will be on here later and say if I'm wrong but did you need all wheels to drive as unless you are on mud or snow . for the wheels to slip you will get diff lock on tarmac

Not sure about the 4wd Bit but the second is the lock stops, They need greasing
:thumb2

yup, second problem is the bump stocks - blob of grease to fix.

first problem is more complex. Don't test on anything that isn't slippy - you will get transmission wind up - you probably already have.

First, its a windup.

The wheels move at difernt speeds, you need slip was t2 dont hqve mid diff.

Second.

Grease up staring stops.

thanks all
Yeah Ive been having a read about the 4wd system on these and no it wasn't slippy, it was on tarmac.:doh:doh so wont be doing that again.

If it is wound up now is there a way of unwinding it?

Ill grease the stops up and see how that goes.

Thanks again

Glen

Put into two wheel drive, go in opposite direction that caused it. Sorted...:thumb2

You shouldn't need to do this but...
Failing that, jack up one front wheel, as the wind up can be stored as a turning torque in the tyre and all the transmission. Stand back, the wheel could turn with a skid as you lift weight off it.:doh

Find some grassy surface as close as possible and the windup, will spin out.....hopefully....:nenau
