The turbo on the ZD30 is a VNT type, this is under direct control of the ECU.
If the engine is revved at standstill the turbo should not operate.

So any problems related to the turbo bearings passing oil are more likely to show up only when driving the vehicle as the turbo will now be spinning!

Just an update and a massive thanks to Dave (davenclaire ) he's just spent hours round at mine helping me diagnose my fuel problem and I'm off to find some replacement fuel hose in the morning... Will let you know if it solves the issue!!! Absolute gent and top bloke !! Many thanks rob

Yeh high oil pressure sensor is the first culprit I'd be checking if the oil light is on as it fails regularly because it can't cope with the constant pressure fluctuations. Milners can sort you out with a new sensor.

I believe it's not too bad to change on the Terrano but on the ZD30 Trol it's an engine out job as it's a bugger to get to... that's why I fitted the oil pressure gauge so I could watch the pressure myself and ignore the light if it was on (long term plan is to pull the dash bulb) :thumbs

Ok guys ..I've now put a new fuel line in from the top of the tank to the fuel filter(in fuel grade clear tubing) still got air bubbles and loads of whitish/blue smoke!!!!! managed to talk to Dave and he suggested I put the tank end into a separate can of deseil ... As I'm priming and starting the engine to test I found that I had half of it pouring out of the uncovered outlet of the tank !!?? I'm pulling my hair out... Hopefully Dave can help later.. Cheers fellas keep the suggestions rolling in, as I would like to get her running properly , rob

What I would do is run 2 lengths of clear tube at the filter and run the car via the filter from a can of Diesel, if you get any bubbles in the tube it would indicate that the problem lies at your filter more than likely, could be a cheap filter with a crap seal or could be the bleed screw on the filter primer housing

If you don't see air bubbles when running from your can of diesel, the problem lies with your fuel lines, it's then a case of tracking back down the lines and finding where they have corroded and allowing air into the lines which ios causing the air bubbles you see in your pipes

Might sound stupid but try running the engine with your fuel cap off

When the engine is running is your primer in the upright position and firm or is it being sucked down?

The oil pressure switch is best done through the o/s wheel arch, I did mine this way and not had any issues since....quick, I must touch wood

so for the last couple of days weve been trying to sort robs 3.0ltr out its not a fuel pipe issue rob replaced the supply pipe straight to the filter we have even run the fuel pipe into the fuel tank direct. we have by passed the fuel filter to so we know its nothing todo with that either.
there are small bubbles very small in the supply line but iv decided there caused by the suction effect of the pump pulling fuel from the tank some bubbles must be normal.

so what else could it be im gonna carry out a sniff test to check for head/ head gasket just to make sure. any one have experience with the egrs on these? is there a dpf fitted to the exhaust? as the previous turbo blew im wondering if theirs old oil in there where it shouldnt be.

Hopefully not but from start of this thread did sound like the 3.0 I bought off cupcake lots of white smoke it was headgasket/cracked head haven't investigated it but looses water lots of bubbling in the rad

well theirs no bubbling in the rad its not looseing water either it seems. all very strange as rob
s been for a spin and says all is well
