Ok guys , done a straight swop on Monday with my 3lt manual terrano for a 3lt auto terrano.... Got onto the motorway ,lovely drive.. Pulled like a train smooth etc etc , after driving for an hour or so ,masses of whitish smoke 😳 plus oil and engine light on.. Pulled over , turned engine off for 10 mins started her up , back to normal... The next morning started her up , ran like a dog with so much exhaust smoke couldn't see for 10 mins!!! Got my machanic out same day and after putting on the computer ended up changing the fuel filter and emptying the fuel pipes and fuel tank .... Started her up and she ran fantastic !!! Went out today and again running lovely until I went up a slight hill, the engine light on then oil light then loss of power and a bit of smoke... Stopped 5 mins , then started her up back to normal... What's going on??? Please help guys otherwise this could be the last Nissan I own , I really like the auto and when it's running it feels like it would pull a house down but it's so really want to keep her ! Cheers rob

sounds like a fuel problem if its white smoke poss air leaks or could be mini filter. where r u in selondon rob? im only in bromley mite be able to come look see for you

Did you have it from a stealer, er I mean dealer ? If so take it back there.
Any fault codes then from the MIL ?
White smoke = unburnt fuel or water .

Help..

Hi davenclaire I'm in new Eltham .. Very near Bromley!! Cheers rob

Help

Have the 3lts got the mini filters that so many of you have mentioned ???? When we emptied the original filter into a glass bowl it was full of rubbish/bits and had a bluish tinge to it!!!!!

Help

I've just started her up this morning and .... No smoke but both oil and engine light on 😢😢 seems to be running with out the lumps ... Cheers rob

The ZD30 has both low and high pressure oil switches.
If oil pressure is actually OK, then the HP switch is a common failure, often intermittent.
If the oil pressure is actually low, from the symptoms you describe I'd be checking the turbo.
There is an Ali elbow on the inlet side of the turbo, remove the three bolts and check the turbine for any play, also check for excess engine oil downstream of the turbo.

Get the fault code (DTC) by following the instructions on page EC36 of the downloadable manual.
AFAIK, there is no "mini-filter" on the VP44 IP.

As already stated, did you get it from a dealer, if so, call them

Terrano

It came from a Nissan breakers , who have been really helpful so far but there're 300 miles away 😳

Turbo

The original turbo did fail and it's been replaced by a second hand one off a patrol ...

Why was the car in a breakers did you buy on spares or repair basis cars dont normally end up in breakers unless they have some problem

Help

Your probably right .. But they buy and sell nissans and if they get one that's broken and can fix it then they sell it on as a working motor..

Blue smoke is a sign of a turbo issue so maybe they did a bodge job to fix it

Turbo

Thanks banshee I'll get my mechanic to check the turbo.. Will he need to dismantle to check it's ok?
