Took my Terrano for its yearly check and it passed with flying colours and the inspector complimented its condition as well as "in damn good nick for its age" Havent really spent that much on it since I bought it 5 years ago so this year it got a bit of a treat. it got new front disc and pads - last ones were at least 5 years old and never been changed and only half worn even with towing the caravan to lots of rallies up and down steep hills also a set of new rear brake shoes as the old ones were only 25% worn but starting to come adrift off the bonding and a new starter as the bearing was worn in it and it was bad to start in the really frosty weather (Mind you it was 18 months after the bearing started grumbling!!) apart from that the rear tail pipe rusted off at the weld on the flange where it bolts onto the midlle box so managed to get it off and welded it up and its as good as new . Not bad for an 02 plate with only 71k on the clock . Also fitted a new reluctor ring on 1 drive shaft for the ABS as it had split but ABS still cuts in occasionaly when going really slow?.
Only reason I did all teh work to the brakes was "Er Indoors" persuaded me to by a "Slightly " bigger caravan than we previously had at 1900 kgs gross instead of 1275kgs - only bigger by 1\2 tonne!!!!- Get 21mpg towing it how does this compare with you?
Cheers waterman
