Hi everyone,
Having owned numerous older Land Rover 110s over the years I became fed up increasing the share price of welding gas suppliers. Whilst they were great fun travelling around Europe and the UK it was a bit of a solo experience as there was no way Mrs Rusty Horse and the foals would get in them.

So - I'm switching to a Nissan Patrol so I can still do all the same stuff but in more comfort and spend more time having fun in it rather than under it.

In the process of looking for the right one but aiming for the 3.0l SE or above, circa 2000 so would be grateful for any pointers.

Looking forward to being active on here and getting to know you all.

Hi and welcome. You will find that Nissans share the dreaded tin worm problem but are way more comfortable and just keep going. I run a Y60 myself. I'm sure a few others that have y61's will point you in the right direction

Some people take a long time to see the light. Welcome aboard.

Thanks (& how)

Thanks chaps.
Quick question - just paid my tenner and wonder if there is a delay before I can access all the stuff? (getting the not authorised message and no search facility)

Not sure how long it takes to process, your name will change from red once it's gone through. Patience my friend.

Hello,

Once paid I have found the site quite quick to change my status. Have you tried logging out then back in again?

Great site by the way :thumb2

Welcome, I wouldn't worry too much about the payment. Someone will be along shortly to sort it out for you and you'll be blue before you know it.

I always thought it was instant :nenau

If he's still not gone blue in an hour or so I'll call Paul :thumb2

Hello and welcome, there are some nice patrols on here with some top quality mods and knowledgeable owners! Jay666d might try and sell you a lawn mower though :D

As for access to whole of forum I think it may be a case of waiting for a moderator to log on and sort it :nenau

Did you notice how subtle that was... I sneaked in the fact I have had my Mav over 22 years lol. :doh:doh

Oh yes, very subtle, you sly old fox you.......:sly.

Welcome aboard, I'm also a patrol owner and I live in Hampshire, your more than welcome to pop along and take a look at mine if that helps.

Welcome bud, I'm also a Trol owner, had a Y61 3.0 for 4 years before I got my Y60 4.2 in March. Loved the Y61, just had a hankering for a 4.2 beast :D

I would say a 3.0 of the vintage you're looking at is in the problem period for the 3.0 engine as early 3.0s were the poor design that created the bad rep the Y61 3.0s have (they were subsequently slightly redesigned).

That's not to say all early 3.0s are bad, and any still running are probably going to be okay, but just bear it in mind and be wary of any ones that have had a history of issues, although you can fit NADS to protect your engine (see Jay and Davey's threads)

Apart from that check for rust is the main one :nenau

Tdoug, after reading my post again I can see I should have read it twice before I posted it. But hey ho got to give you guys something to cheer you up :clap:clap:lol

I live for the laughter mate :thumb2 do you think I would have climbed in the back of Rick's crash tester if I didn't :lol:lol:lol
