Ok had the t2 for 2 weeks (see my post in the hello im new thread) and a few problems already the biggest been the bloody thing appeared out side on a recovery truck thursday night ..the clutch let go on the wife, so in the middle of changing it ... i popped the rubber seal by the release arm and bits of friction plate came falling out so time to drop the box ..

If anyone has any tips to help all info gratefully received so far have removed props, torsion bars and crossmember, slave cylinder, assorted wiring , breather pipe, speedo cable , disconnected front cross member the diff support one .
before rain stopped play as am working out side on the drive.

tomorrow aim to remove starter then hopefully it will come out....please oh please....lol

any thoughts on the best way of supporting the box as its a bloody hefty lump???

Second problem is it refuses point blank to start when engine is warm will just crank over and over, any ideas???

Jason

Just posting in support..... but can't help sorry.

I am sure the guys will come back to ya very soon.:bow

You have done well so far, but you have to support the box on some wheels not so much for getting it out but more for keeping it in line when pushing it back, you cannot afford to let it hang on the center plate or the plate will be ruined before you start, if you use a trolley jack then make a rudimentary cradle to keep it in place, re your hot starting issues, have you tested the compressions, Rick

cheers for the replys/support:D hope fully getting transmission jack borrowed from local garage tomorrow so that should be sorted.. and hot starting not thought of that guess thing expanding would cause it  anything else sensor wise you think it could be that would cause it starts ok when cold??

I do hope so:D what do you guys reckon of the clutch kit from milners

will do thanks jim ah crank sensor something else to look at I spose

Clutch

Call me old fashioned but I always use OEM clutches as they fit and last.
Its a foolish save of a few pounds and a lot of effort to replace it again.
I would not use Milner Off Road parts for a clutch unless its the same make as the original - they are cheap for a reason. I only use them for stuff like polybushes etc. The Boshi fuel and oil filters they sell are first rate crap from my personal experience.

cheers for that will bear in mind as getting the box off is a pig dont want to be doing it again in a hurry
