Plea for advice & guidance.........

I have a 3L terranao which suits me fine but is too small for my daughter & her brood + 2 dogs + bails of straw etc., so she's thinking of a Navara. After finally giving up on LR Discoverys (what a consistently unreliable, costly to run, gimmick-ridden vehicle they are) at long last.
However I am not up to scratch on Navaras so need some (a lot LOL) advice as to their history & spec.
Main questions are what to look out for, what goes wrong, are the later (2005+) better than the earlier ones & do the later ones have DPF filter?

I gather there are problems with the pre-moded engines & (all?) the timing chains (also dodgy on mine at high miles so I'm told).

I detest anything that needs frequent attention due to poor design so want to avoid this at all cost (memories of 1980's Rover Montego ingrained on my brain forever!!!!). What I really want is something as reliable as my previous Cavalier mk3, Astra mk4 & Frontera A but I don't hold out much hope LOL.

Finally, does anyone know of an independent Nissan-savvy garage near cv (Coventry) post code as I'm getting past doing more than basic servicing?

Thanks in advance.

Don't no much about the Navara but my mate had a D22 which never really went wrong & the engine never blew up either:nenau TBH try & find an imported 3L if you can as it's the same engine as your T2 or one which has had the good old bomb proof 2.7 T2 lump fitted

One thing I can tell you from a city point or view, if you do lots of town driving or busy commuting avoid a dpf. :thumb2
