Hello all you navara owners
I have a terrano and I love it but I miss the pick up area,
Now can anyone give me the good and bad points on these trucks.
Price guide weak strong points:thumbs

A good point: if I got a standard twin cab then my wife and kids couldn't come with me:D

Hello Wendy
I have had mine for six years ,never missed a beat, chain tensioners need doing in early ones( should be done by Nissan at owners request not a general re- call) all prone to sudden engine failure when no.3 con rod flies through the block due to big ends and bolts failing. This does not happen on all of them, mine got to 91,000 when i had the bearings changed new clutch and assorted mods. The bearings were showing signs of uneven wear when removed.
Driving has been likened to a boat, with rear leaf springs its to be expected ,cornering can be fun though.:naughty
Before the nav i had a commercial terrano, great fun, the space in the back being marginly smaller than the navarra. If you want a large deck space go for the single cab.
Milage per gallon is what you make it driven hard and fast(tops at over 100mph) and you can expect 25. driven with the revs arond 2000 and 35-40 is possible. long runs up the motorway should average 35(70mph about 2500 revs)
As for prices look at Autotrader for some idea of current costs.
Hope this helps

I LOVE MINE!!!

Bad point on 02 forward D22s are the engine failure (YD25DDTi engine), there is the option of going for a 3l import which are cracking motors. or go a we bit older for the TD25 engine, we bit less power but still very useful.

PM me if your looking at any, I always have my eye on them, and the prices have come way down since I bought mine.

Many thanks for the replies
Lots of good info :thumbs
 I had heard bad things about the engine:rolleyes:
I think by now this would have been sorted on the problem ones?:nenau
Thanks Nnman will pm you when I am sure I will stay with nissan.
I will be looking at single cab, bigger load area:thumbs
I do like the toyota pick ups but all the ones I looked at were rubbish and loads of money:(
I do love the terrano for comfort and all round good truck but I am using the back like a pick up not as a people carrier:lol:lol:lol:lol whick is not good.

:doh:nenau:bow:eek::confused::question:stupid:beerwoops:eek: sorry

Apparently the engine can eat itself, not had no problems yet:thumb2.

Had mine about 4 months now.

Ride - Hard
Performance - Crap (compared to cars!)
MPG - Fair - 32-33mpg
Attitude - pretty menacing in traffic:sly
Fun - Fantastic:lol:lol:lol:lol

Cheers

i have a 2.5 td D22 on a 2000 with 155k on the clock!!! driven like its stolen and hardly ever goes wrong!!!! thats the bests one to get lol

Thanks George A
Lots of info to have a look at before I decide.:thumbs
I really need a single cab for more of a load area. You dont seem to see many of them about they are all double cabs around here:thumb2

Iv just sent my 06 plate twin cab back with 126k on the clock and the only trouble i had was i went through 3 clutches and wen the clutch failed last time it smashed through the gearbox and it ate tyres and brakes but i was racing round quarrys weighing 3 tonne constant full of tools. Boss asked me wat i wanted next and i now have a 58 plate navara sport. Lovely motors comfortable and they fly up and down motor way.

Only downfall is wen i pull my trailer with a good load (lwb mav) i prefer to tow with my 98 t2 clutch feels stronger and generally more sturdy but the navara will sit on the motorway with a stock car on trailer with plenty of go wen needed.

cheers jimmy
