Forgot to mention after our big laning trip at peak district..

I have been saying for a while that the clutch lurkes some naughty gremlins.

This was was not fun, nor was I impressed!!

we are mid way on a rocky lane on a bit of an incline (nothing too crazy)

I am in normal 4wd stationary, once it clears infront and elty passes the cyclists i put the terrano into first gear and start to crawl (or try to)

more revs.. more revs.. nothing till eventually the pedal was completely up and i was revving... then the typical clutch smell, so naturally I stopped as clearly i was just spinning the clutch plates.

I decided to put it into low gear and boom off i set good as gold, but 3 seconds later POP the clutch pedal completely dissapeared to the floor, literally like someone had cut a hose!!! :doh

on the move I shouted forward asking elty to move so I dont konk on a lane :lol

as we moved forwards the clutch pedal all of a sudden came back to normal and pressure was available again... :nenau wtf.... :nenau

Once we stopped in a carpark I checked fluid levels and everything was spot on, on the max mark.. :nenau

Any suggestions guys as this is not fun (all be it a rare one)

anyone heard of a release valve for pressure build up or something?

poltergeist or it has been possessed is the only explanation.:nenau

Sometimes it affects some people if they accept body part transplants.

It's as if you have transplanted body parts from another vehicle, the bigger the part... the bigger the problem.

Get rid of those bumpers....:doh:doh

:lol:lol:lol

That is strange & TBH i've got no idea:duno: if it happens again the only thing I can think of if it's safe to do so (no traffic etc) would be to pull it out of gear without using the clutch then look underneath at the slave cylinder & clutch arm to see if either had become stuck some how

Just turn off ignition.
Problem was we on quite a steep climb with no where to pull up and stop until the top of the lane.

Aye tis true (minus me loosing my bumpers) ;)

Such a strange symptom, at first I thought it might have been four wheel drive slipping out of gear but it was in high not low so cant jump as not near neutral.

Also doesent explain the pedal suddenly loosing all pressure...

A weird one indeed :nenau

I just can't imagine any situation that a mechanical and Hydraulic system could do this, pedal drops on it's own, then comes back on it's own.
It's as if air is trapped in the master and suddenly is released, pedal drop, but something is storing energy, like the flexi ballooning or air in slave and re pressurising the system, pedal up.
:nenau:nenau

weird one indeed, my best guess would be mater cylinder, I know you had a new one but?? and I think you have had the hose renewed, correct me if I am wrong, Rick

I cant remember if the hose got renewed or not :nenau

I ordered a slave and a master. My flexi thing is blocked off so that's eliminated. My minor leak was metal hose under master, that is dry now.

Are you able to get hold of another/all necessary hoses and I will reimburse you for them when I see yah?

If I order em god knows what might happen :lol

PM me your reg and I will order, but cannot do this W E as got to build a conservatory for a mate, Rick

Nah that's cool me dude :thumb2

I'm also in Denmark this weekend and I think working next :nenau

I'll drop you a pm Rick :thumbs

My clutch went a bit sloppy too at one point.and its happens before.
I didn't quite loose the clutch but it seemed as if I was going to.

Also more of late the pedal needs manual return a lot more than it used too.
It was almost stuck to the floor on one occasion.
I will monitor anymore problems as it seems OK today.

Yes mine also does this. Found a small nut on the metal pipe under the master that needed a nip :thumb
This helped a little bit :lol
