hi all,
mine has let me down.:doh non starting and just winds over. nats light is on constantly on dash when ignition is on so I guess its an imobiliser problem.

what im thinking of is doing away with it? if I connect a wire from the feed wire on the stop solenoid (on pump) to the battery + direct, would this by-pass the nats system?

its a 2001 navara but same set up as a pre 96 terrano with throttle cable (manual pump).

No that will not work, first you need to find out what NAT's version you have, up to 96 it was certainly NAT's 2 which a mobile keyguy should be able to reprogram, but later versions I think a main dealer only but having said that, you say you have a manual pump, do you have a maf? Rick

If the IP is not ECU controlled, then the only thing that will stop it starting and running as normal is the stop solenoid.

wasn't it nats 1 before ,96 rick and nats 2 after ? :nenau

- its a 2.5 version of the 2.7 tdi but has manual pump and no maf. built 2001 (basically like an early terrano lump but with an intercooler.
I hate these security systems!

yes you are right Ray, but find it odd on a 2001 motor, if he has a maf then the ECU will be blocked, so at the mo it hinges on that I think, but stand to be corrected as had no dealings with Navaras or Patrols, Rick

thanks rick. that's my first try in the morning! its old tech for the year probably because they were designed as cheap work horses? the only newer part they have is the intercooler.
hopfully I can get at the wires on the stop solenoid easy enough. anyone done this before? colours of wires etc?

thanks for all advise.

its a 2.5 version of the terrano engine. its basically like the early engine in the terrano up until 96. ie manual pump, no maff. but it has the intercooler on. its defo original. ive got 3 of them.

OK mate not come across this before, so engine running sorted, but does it have an alarm as you may need to do something on this score as unlocking may set it of? just a thought, Rick

no alarm, its basic key in the door stuff!

the nats system is the only technical thing on it. they don't have headlight adjusters, variable intermittent wiper, electric windows etc!

then it is NATS 1 on the petrol engine it would need a work round as it stops the ECU reading the engine sensors (maf, disributor/timing etc) but on the diesel all you have is the stop solenoid, Rick

thanks rick. I thought about trying the by- pass wire from s solenoid to bat. if this works just run it from s solenoid to a + on the ignition so it would cancel out the nats permanently. does this make sense?
electrics arnt my strong point and I want to avoid problems in the future with it.

as a test run a pos wire to the solenoid if engine runs OK the you have to take this feed from a permanently on with ignition on feed or when you turn the ignition off the engine will not stop, an example is the radio feed, this is disabled on starting, a good place to start is the relay box on drivers side under the bonnet, put a meter to these terminals to find one that is live all the time the ignition is on, Rick
