Help again please.
I'm trying to stop my maverick being so naff!
I'vegot the MAF unit under suspision but dont know what I should be looking for.
It appears to be just a fine gauze over the throttle body!
Is this it and if so it seems all clean or am I missing someting?
Engine seems to hesitate up to about 2500 rpm then sems alright if I give it some welly!
cheers:rolleyes:

un plug it, then go out for a run, if it feels the same , then id think its a naf maf. if a lot worse your maf is fine.

Ta Zippy just doing the plugs while I'm there so will be back in a bit!

Totally differnt on a petrol zippy.

Mine wouldn't run atall without it makeitfit. That guase is just some flame arrestor incase of backfire - doesn't work, or didn't on my LPG anyway.

Remove 2 screws from outsi of throttle body and withdraw mav from outside. Clean with carb cleaner replace.

:nenau 2.4 missed that bit.. :nenau

any ways its ZIP now

as ive been cut in half!!

Ta for that just unpluged it and it does run, but only like a bag of spanners....proper ruff:eek:
So I'll undo the side screws:eek::augie

can't get away from this recession.they are even cutting back on posts.
down with brown and vote for zip:lol:lol:lol:lol

Right I've got what I think is oil on my mouse now grrr:eek:
Anyway this MAF unit appears to have two tiddly filaments on it attached to a cuple of wire/metal posts. Is this it?:nenau
So should I just spray contct cleaner on them?(Not got any carb cleaner)

Right, been there , done that, no better.
Any ideas what to check next?
It's like driving with the handbrake on , a sort of flat spot between 2000 and 3000 rpm?

over 3000 it get better??

we are all guessing youve done filters plugs and points ect?

Yep I;ve done the fuel filter on the chassis, dist cap, rotor arm, plugs,it's got new KnN filter, and new leads:sly
Everything I've taken off so far has been clean as a clean thing anyway:nenau

Could be a slight fuel blockage or a sticking linkage try a fuel cleaner and see what happens.

It does feel a bit like a fuel shortage, thats why I did the filter.
Does this fuel cleaner stuff go in the tank or in the throttle body somewhere?

is it a regular running shit or an erratic running shit.

ie is it a constant (the same all the time) running crap or does it vary

could be a fuel line air leak getting air into fuel.

Well it's sort of regularly intermittant !
Say you're coming out of a bend in third at about 2000 rpm and then accelerate away, well that's where things get a bit OH COME ON
sort of dull:eek:
However if from a standing start I give it the beans it'll rev up through 5500 in first and 2nd then as much as is avail after up to "you're nicked" speeds:thumbs
I've had a good look at the pipes and wires and stuff in the engine bay and cant see any thing odd, in fact all seems far to clean for me:rolleyes:
so who knows!:nenau

i had some problems with mine running crap over christmas.
changed the plugs, leads, dizzy, rotor arm,air filter, fuel filter, cleaned maf, stripped down and cleaned egr valve and welded a cracked manifold.
can't actually say which one was causing it to run rough but it seems to have worked so far:nenau
