hi, my passenger rear window went down tonight, :thumbs but not up:doh
reversed wiring to motor and down made window go up. both switches go down but neither worked up. drivers console switch does stick in up position. guessing that panel is gonna need replacing?

right replaced all door bits and wired switch back in. before this, i retested with switch back in and still only goes down. reversed motor wires to send back up, however front switch now does nothing. guessing both switches want replacing, changing front board and switches will only blow again if rear faulty?

wheeler dealers ed china had to replace both on the audi tt to get that one going. passenger was broken but drivers had gone as a result?

so basically n/s/r door window goes down only on passenger door switch and does nothing on drivers switch. and checked with the lock button on both lol

I've not heard or seen this before on forum, I'm sure someone will comment. :thumb2

all i've done today is move the rear trailer light plug up onto bumper next to n/s/r lamps and rewired l/h/s side and indicator direct into light board, as both iffy, damn scotch blocks. hate scotch blocks.

thats all fine. dropped windows at home as hot in car and it wouldn't go up. just down on both switches. after messing with rear door front control for n/s/r stopped altogether. gonna change that anyway so may as well get rear one as see.

Hopefully someone will shed some light, perhaps the switches have packed up :nenau

yes the centre console switches get dirt in them and play about some times, they can be stripped and cleaned, fiddly but doable, another point worth noting is the block plugs are tied to the body and lifting the rear of the centre console can part pull them, I cut the ties to enable console to be lifted higher to see what you are doing, also if you do decide to strip the switch, make very careful note of the wire links, I suggest lots of photographs from different angles, Rick

a bloody wire off, read on

well, due to amount of wiring and response light switch gear previous owner had fitted, hadn't completly removed the centre console. bought passenger switch gear for a tenner from scrappy, took passenger rear and drivers side console as well :augie

changed drivers side unit, to realise the one i removed had, ONE WIRE come off. don't know how but one wire was off, replaced and worked.

however, the new unit i bought has got two working switch lights so thats a winner. mine didn't work at all.

the one i borrowed, :augie, dosn't go up :nenau and light don't work. mine goes up and light works, but works in reverse to all other switches. copied wiring from :augie unit and now my old drivers side passenger window switch now works correctly, and with the light working. both switches don't have a working light in the window lock button.

ah well, you can't have it all. 3 out of four lights ain't bad, not that i ever look for them, just feel about :lol:lol

so all windows now work again and better than before on switches. will have a go at fixing broken switch for practice and keep both units for spare.

thanks all

fixed switch. now have full set spare switches lol.

will make a tech page photo fix for the window switches. dead easy.

a little fiddly, but simple to fix. there are two shaped pieces of metal which sit on a rocker, one of mine on the the bought in switch had fallen out.
