n/s front clunk

hi all i`ve found another problem, i get a clunk sound on n/s front when i go over a speed bump or manhole. ive jacked it up i found the droplink nut loose, i fitted a new pair 6 wks ago, nyloc nut some how not tight. i held ball end with molegrips as it was all turning, defo tight now its dogged up, seems ok. wheel bearing has slight play , so i tightened slightly to remove the play. i placed crowbar under wheel lifted several times no visable play in the balljoints, lock nut on lower tie rod slightly loose, tightened 3/4 of a turn couldnt have been tightened when i had the tracking adjusted 6 wks ago. drove to work this morn clunk still there, its not the steering stops, or the cv joint, not the bearing, or droplink, i greased the idler what the ruddy hell is it: doh does anyone have any idea what i can check next its a solid clunk, sounds like a ball joint but i cant feel any play in them.:nenau

could be a ball joint on the steering drag link, they are a bit poo i replaced mine with an uprated one made by makeitfit on here

just had another thought, it could be the bush in the shock absorber

:beeri fitted a new relay link rod ( drag link ) when i bought my t2 two months ago, the old one was shot the n/s balljoint was hanging off. that was the first job i had to do the steering was like a skateboard. i never thought about the shock, can you replace the bush, or does it come complete with the shock absorber. cheers steve 2 heads are better than one, especially since you know more about it than me:clap i went out armed with a torch but cant see the bush, i`ll have to try in daylight, cheers

just twist the shock from side to side you will hear it clunk, and from experiance it better to just put a new shock on that replace the bush, nightmare of a job lol when mine went i replaced shock on both sides so it wouldn't be a problem again

if you replace the shocks its only an hours work max, longest bit of it is takin the wheels off and puttin em back on lol
