Thought you only wanted a manual? (Not that I'd turn my nose up at a 4.2 auto if I was looking to replace the Y61!)

Yes, seen it was auto actually, was already looking into conversions, but that's big money in itself

Looks like a nice motor, minus the wings, whats wrong with it?

Mine auto and that's all I would ever drive, to lazy to drive a manual also find auto much easier green laning. Only problem with auto on the y61 is if you tow as limited to 2.5 ton but manual 3.5 ton.

Kind regards

Russell.

Why convert it?

4.2 and an old school auto box are a good combination.

I drive the autos at work but ive gotta have a manual :sly

Also from eltys experience it has a tendency to run away a bit on some harsher lanes

Too old for full difflock mate, got a slippy in there, foreign scammers bid on it to win it then try and scam you through fake PayPal account, so be warned don't deal with anyone on eBay who doesn't want to pay through eBay PayPal link, fookin scum.

Don't ever deal with paypal if they are picking it up in person, No proof of them receiving it.

50-100 quid worth the risk but above that Cash only for collection...

Not too old for diff lock. Easy swap for anyone interested :thumbs

the y60 was produced with difflock from 1987, just not all had it, they were called patrol, safari and maverick, patrols mostly had diff locks safaris didn't generally have them fitted only as an option. ive owned around five y60 patrols and 4 had difflock fitted one didn't.. The earliest one was a 1987 which was identical to a mates patrol also with difflock.. ive owned around 6 safaris and only one had a difflock, and also the safaris were all 24volt the patrols were all 12volt... you could buy a really bare bones patrol with only a speedo and fuel gauge, vinyl interior which were like deck chair seats, door cards very basic and rubber floor most of these models we didn't see here and were produced for forestry and mining in remote areas, they did have difflocks though ive seen a few of these models, generally used and very abused and scraped once done with or sold in bulk to dismantlers by large companies in aus, nz, png, etc etc
just some really useless info :doh
