i was driving home from work on the motorway first lane doing 70mph its busy rush hour cars flying everywhere , i was approaching a turn off the slip road at the side of me has queing cars suddenly a passing car in the outside lane decided to also make for this turn off the last second, he cut across all 3 lanes into my lane but the slip road was packed with cars qued up & at this stage i was still doing 70 :doh i had littraly nowhere to go apart from swerve or ram the brainless moron:confused: i managed to swerve around & many others did as he sat parked on the first lane with left indicator on ... driving just gets better:bow just hope the next time he tries this stunt theres a 32ton volvo up his arse :doh:doh

Wasn't J39 of the M1 was it by any chance. Some road works on there and it's happened to me too.

m1 jim yeah but further back j33 with road works further on ...its a case of remove the brain for many drivers & drive with the darkest glasses at the highest speed:bow

utter morons, I like most of us have missed a sign or been other wise occupied and see a turn that I want but no way would I pull a stunt like that, I just accept I fufd up and go to the next junction, some people just do not consider what their actions can cause, basically they just do not give a stuff, what a world we live in, on another note I see the pillars of our society that are one of the few that can sign our passport forms (family doctors)are now shown to be fiddling bstds like many of our government rulers, I rest my case, Rick

My little camera on the windscreen captures similar stunts, I'm pleased I've got it..

not condoning bad driving obviously, and I don't want to sound like I'm preaching, but you could have avoided the near miss if you'd pulled into the centre lane until you were past the junction. This gives idiots like the one you mentioned space to **** about in, and people joining the Motorway on the other side of the junction plenty of room to pull on easily. As you've already said in previous posts, this happens quite often, so you know it's a hazard, and should be taking avoiding action early.
Think ahead.

trouble is you could have swerved, lost control and rolled.

so think long term, after all got better view than many but
beware driving taller less stable vehicle, or be the 32 tonner.....

J33 that's the parkway I think and there's lots of cameras so he will have been noted.

Noted... Well it may be on camera, but unless there is a complaint, they were probably looking at another screen at the time.:doh

.

similar happened to me on A1 south of Blyth heavy traffic two lanes im in outside lane doing 60mph long wheel base transit pickup indicates to come out of inside lane to over take i think but does a 90 degree turn to do a u turn to go north but couldnt pull straight out so leaves his back end in my lane couldnt go into other lane so smacked straight into his axel writing my car off
turned out he was from newcastle going to sheffield and was lost:doh

Similar thing happens southbound on the m5 at the Gordano services junction at evening rushour, bloody idiots some people on the motorway.

Do you prepare for it, knowing it's going to happen ?

i take ya point ,but at 6.30pm rush hour the middle & outer lane quite busy most of which are doing easily 80 - 90 which means ive gotta do them speeds to keep up with the flow, or you end up with tailgating no thats not my kinda driving ive started getting on the motorway after this junction now seen too many nr misses in recent mths most happen within split secs before you know it 5 car pile up

I do tend to be very wary of junctions for this very reason. Once had a similar occurrence at the M1/M18 interchange. Everyone slams the anchors on to avoid whoever's just made a last-minute dash. I sat there and was about to breathe a sigh of relief when a truck when thundering up the hard shoulder. If he'd tried to brake rather than swerve, I would not be here now.
