hi guys had a look today at the injectors with the intercooler off and the injectors have only metal pipes connecting each other not rubber.

also injectors 3 and 4 seem to be leaking and look wet by the nuts holding the leak off pipes in position.

its a 1996 zexel model

the spill pipes have nuts holding them on. I suggest follow the remval procedure so you can inspect the spill pipes, then re tighten the lot. Could be they have come loose with age or from a previous service. If faulty, shoudl be plenty available from the scrappers...

If there is copper washers on the spill pipe joints then remove them and anneal them then re-fit or get some new copper washers(I would still anneal them though first if new as they harden over time).
Apply a tiny drop of loctite hydraulic seal to the washer or surfaces of your joint and they wont leak anymore.

.

hi mate thanks for your reply im feeling dense but what does anneal them mean ?

would it involve taking the fuel line off the top of the injector then loosen the nut that holds the spill pipe on ?

where can i get replacement washers ?

do they just sit on top of the spill pipes ?

When ever I have come across this type of joint there is normally a copper or some type washer between them. With annealing you heat the copper washer up till it's cherry red then drop it in cold water quickly ,this will soften the copper washer again to allow it seal properly. You only do this with copper washers.

Having a look at some old pics I had it looks like then you need to undo the injector pipe nuts then another nut holding the spill pipe on.

Even with new copper washers my Mercedes sprinter injector seals used to leak so I was told to put some loctite hydraulic seal on the washer as well and this has sealed then time and time again.

correct, nut on injector, nut on spill pipe :thumb2

Wish more vehicles had metal pipes as I have forgotten the amount of times I have seen the rubber pipes spewing diesel everywhere when they split.I have had to do my Mercedes ,my Terrano and my sisters Skoda. The whole engine was plastered in diesel when the skoda pipes went...............thank the lord for fairy liquid and buckets of hot water(Cleaned the mess up a treat though)
