Picked my Terrano up last night. 2.7 LWB. :D

Opinions so far... I like it. Seems nice and well built, not as slow as i thought it would be. Plenty of equipment, even the A/C works properly. Comfy and the driver and passenger seat have trays for the rear. Thats butty space sorted for when me and the boss are out and about. She likes it as well. She was going to take it for work today but talked her out of it. She isn't doing any off site visits today so doesn't need the off road capability.

Problems...

Tick over is slow, about 500 rpm so need to sort that.

Air bag light is on. Brother in law who i bought it off has had the connectors under the drivers seat apart and cleaned them but its still doing it. He says to check the one behind the glove box so will have a look at that when i get time.

CD player isn't removing the cd's. So need to have a look at that.

Nats (i think thats right) security light is on on the dash. The lights etc flash when its set off but no noise from the alarm. Hoping it's just that that is causing the light to be on.

couple of lights not working on the dash.

And thats about it, so nothing major at all.

Plans..?

It's a daily driver so no mods for off road. Been there, done that (a lot) in the past, so if i fancy laning again i shall get something else.

The rear lights only working in the bumper drives me mad. Why they couldn't have made it so the upper ones light up as well i will never know. (all the brake lights work).

Get a bit warmer weather and i shall get underneath and re-waxoyl it etc. It's nice and solid so best to stay on top of it.

Brother in law likes lots of stickers, me not so much, so will need to remove some.

Side steps will probably come off. Not a lover of them. They are usually the first things to go when i get a new 4x4.

So here are some photo's

Beautiful car indeed, wait until warmer weather before teying to remove stickers.

Airbag light, my 3 litre starts flashing when we have moved the drivers seat so I too need to check the connectors too. That said the reset procedure is in quick links and then downloads section so take a look and fix it for free:thumbs

Assuming your remote locking is working as it should the alarm hron is behind the boot trim on drivers side. Remove boot aperture kick strip and then peel the aperture seal from the bottom around the top but no need to remove all the way. Remove lower rear most seatbelt mounting bolt, careful when you refit not to cross thread. Then the lower boot trim should pull away from the metal bodywork but again dont think it needs to be completely removed to see the horn near the seatbelt reel. People disconnect this when they can’t unlock car with the fob.

Sit back and enjoy the truck.

thanks for the info. :thumb2 Like you say, best wait for the better weather for sticker removal. I shall look into the other things. I think the seatbelt light is still in check mode, its flashing at me. The central locking etc all works fine, just no noise, so i will investigate. There is no big hurry, not when its this cold

When it’s snowing you sit back and enjoy the truck and being able to drive when others can’t but remember it’ll still slide. :thumbs

there are many people who seem to think that because something is 4x4 they can still drive as normal in snow etc. I have checked the 4 wheel drive and low box this morning and all works fine.

They certainly do matey and they’re the ones that give everyone a bad name. Yeah I like the transmission on these trucks, the fixed hub version like yours will have are really robust too. You’re not supposed to use 4wd on hard surfaces as the wheels need to be able to slip a little to release transmission wind up.

i was trying to figure out what hubs it has. Trying to learn which model etc it is. I think SE but stand to be corrected :augie 17 inch wheels on it. Would these be standard for this model.?

Yeh those are the standard wheels. Some people including me fit sidelight bulbs in the brakelight lens so you have four sidelights :thumb2

Do you just replace the brake light bulbs with stop tail or is there more to it.?

I wish it was so easy. Basically remove the light unit and either find a stop and tail light bulb holder and modify the hole for the holder in the lamp. Or find another bulb holder and make a hole in the back of the lamp. Then run a sidelight feed up to the light. Actually the wiring is easy. Hardest thing is finding a good bulb holder. I’ve tried cheap stop n tail light holders from ebay which are pants. I then found a capless side light bulb holder and made an extra hole for it but I mucked up the hole so it’s not the best fit.
I tried fitting an led bulb in there, the bulb was white led but this made the light output pink. Have not tried a red led bulb as this maybe the way to go. I went old way and used a standard bulb.

thought as much, i was just living in hope. I shall try and get hold of some used light clusters (if they are cheap enough) and see what i can do. Not so worried about wiring, i quite often have to redo bikes or make one off looms

I want to try and source two pair of stop n tail bulb holders that are good quality. The tension on the wires move the terminals on the cheap ebay holders which stops the bulbs from working.

Yeah those look better built but I’ve no idea how they can be made to fit into the lamp it’s self.
