My new Maverick won't start Help

hi carlday, i had the same problem with my brakes, it sounds as if your n/s caliper is seized on the slider pins, or piston/s may be seized, be carefull if the pins are siezed,they shear off quite easily, and the o/s may not be as bad, the pin kit is £43.52 for the set of 4 from nissan, if pins are siezed take take caliper carrier off and heat it up while dosing with wd40. hope this helps.

Looks like I will be spending friday (day off) under truck. How easy is it to strip and fix calipers? I take i will need to empty brake fluid and bleed when I have finished. The tyre on the near side is brand new the tyre on the offside in worn very bad down to marks it does have some more wear round the outer edge.

If it's the slid pins you won't need to drain the fluid. However a complete fluid change might be a good idea, BUT you may end up shearing the bleed nipples off

As you are thinking of stripping the brakes it might be a good idea to have someone with you who knows what they are doing.

Fair play to you for wanting to get stuck in and have a go but I'm sure you will appreciate that if you 'get it wrong' it could spell disaster.

Only kidding - I agree with the above stripping a braking system when you have any doubts is not a great idea.

hi

I was going to tackle in on my own but it has been years since i serviced brakes on a car so have arranged to do it at weekend with my mate who is a trained mechanic. I had already talked myself out of it because I put my kids in the car so it has to be spot on.

Hi all

The car still won't start, me and it are going to fall out. Friday changed glow plugs it started first time I was well chuffed but now the battery is dead, good news is it does start off a jump start but battery has had it. What battery shoud I buy and put on it at the moment it has a 069 type battery on it is that right or wrong.

I have no problems starting mine, but after it initially starts, and only for a couple of minutes, there is some blue smoke and the idle is a bit rough. Is this a symptom of faulty glow plugs ?

EDIT : Once it has warmed up, it runs as sweet as a nut, with no smoke at all !

With this model, be aware of the clamp arrangement. Mine is held at the base, and also check which way round the Positive terminal is.
Many motor factors don't take this into consideration when they quote you.

just put the recommended batt on, mine had a wrong one on when i got it and it exploded a few months later when checking a starting problem. 8O

Thanks from me too steve
mine dose the same after new fuel pump, fuel fillter and all new fuel pipes
new oil filter air fillter bango fillter cleaned and fuel tank flussed through.
Still blue smoke on start up for about 5 mins which seems for ever when you are used to get up and go
it seems strange but I guess its just the way it is :lol: :smile:

ignore the glow plug light, instead count to 10 or 15 from ignition light then fire it up . when its cold
