Yep had to replace both my lower arms for mot as the ball joints where shot but they are welded in so was an expensive job.

Major fail last night. Went to rescue a mate in his disco and ended up stuck myself, 1am this morning before another disco got to us to us to get us out. The vitara that originally came ended up on its side after sliding into the ditch trying to drag me out.

Mud bath

That's a lot of wet mud !

Last time I got stuck was back in 1974/5 at Chelmorton White on the DFS Rally when I was navigating a Cooper S for my mate Jerry we just did not have the ground clearance to get past a Ford Escort blocking the trail so we became one of a bunch stuck for hours !

Hey, it's all experience. Fresh air is good for you too [emoji106] [emoji38]

Have to get stuck to find the limits of your motor :thumb2

Recovery off the tow ball = bad joo joo :question
Get yourself a short strop and fix to both chassis rail recovery points . Then recover off that :thumbs

It can tow 2.8t so I'm sure it can survive a quick tug lol although that didn't work anyway.

2 more shackles will be added to the rear when I find suitable places for them :thumb2

Ah yes but try that with an 8 ton strop and a good yank ?
Have a spy at some of the horror clips on youtube of failed tow ball recovery:eek:

Oh no!!!! I've seen some

They will turn your stomach at this time of night, have you seen the one in the Discovery when the shackle goes through the back window and kills the driver?

The problem is, as a towing device with a fixed connector from the trailer there is no snatch, but with a strop or whatever the resultant forces on a snatch can be very high, liken it to a truck with a load, if the load is against the headboard and you emergency brake then no problem if it is a foot away and slides then it will take the headboard out and you with it, Rick

Exactly :augie and why I didn't link. In Australia it's public enemy No1
I've dented a door with a strop and no shackle

Obviosuly I'm Maverick biased but that Fourtrak does it for me :thumb2 Just needs a bit of a lift and a snorkel

Tell your mukka with the Frontera to get that gap sorted out after the bodylift between the body and bumper it looks awful :doh

great pics, is the Vauxhalls roof rack for carrying 40ft containers??

It is massive but he'd only bought it the night before and couldn't be bothered to remove it. It is being modified but I think he mentioned a roof tent too

I'm with you on the fourtrak, must be the aggressive front end look with the wide arches...

I did mention it but he's not arsed and will do it when he can :lol

The fourtrack was an impressive thing and something I wish I'd now considered when I was looking :thumbs

I will say though, that Frontera was majorly impressive on the day and never struggled once.
