doh, never thought of through the wing. Ended up standing on a stool, but got there in the end.

Another quick job. Fix up rubber gaiters for gear levers, which was kindly supplied by Solarman. As suggested, bike puncture repair kit comes to the rescue.

Doh, another bit of hidden rot. Can you guess where! I think its just localized to drivers side, but need to take of trim to confirm.

Any things I should be aware of in this location? Or just cut and weld a new piece in?

Just checked, just on that side. What size of steel is used for that? 0.8mm ?

Floor seat brackets, could be worse than you think, and some of it is double skin, tread with care, some on here have virtually made new rear floor pans, lots of work if the rest of the truck is worth it, Whoops pissed again bonnet anti lift , Rick

Oh not seen them rot there before. I'd be tempted to remove the plastic scuttle panel off first and just check but I think it's just wiper linkages. Don't think it goes straight through into drivers footwell from there.

We tend to use 1.2mm steel for repairs so probably about right when you think it is probably taking the weight of the bonnet.

Also protect the windcreen from sparks and grinding debris too. I'd try a wet but not running with water sheet of some sort over the screen.

Yes, will strip it back and see what happening behind the trim. The other side looks grand. Water sheet? Blanket soaked in water?

By the way I did guess right, the driverside bonnet hinge isn't it?

I have some old towels that I soak in a bucket of water and then ring out so they are wet but not running with water. Just remember mig welding is electric so water and electricity don't mix well.

Correct.... seems like a sensible plan with the towels. Gonna store the bonnet on the roof whilst I do the work, protected by a blanket. Don't have the space and thought that was a good a place as anywhere to store it!!

Two man job with the bonnet unless you are built like jeff capes and arms like stretch armstrong :lol

Remove the wiper arms and the plastic panel which will give you access to confirm nothing behind the rot.

well, took the scuttle panel off and more nasties under it (the car that keep giving).
Now, on first inspection, I would need to remove the screen to do a proper repair on this, but could I get away with a patch across rather than also welding to the main bulkhead? The expense of getting the screen out would be a bugger...

Closer inspection

Good luck with the repairs :thumb2
I'm currently working on one for a friend, so far I have done both inner and outer sills, boot floor, rear seat belt mounts, rear body mounts, front body mounts, inner wings and bulkhead.
Got the front drivers side footwell and around the filler neck on the inner wing left to do (hopefully :lol)

Let's hope so:thumb2
I did some fairly extensive work on mine over the winter, complete floor from the rear seats back, inner and outer rear arches and rear body mounts.

I had some 3mm thick ones made at work for the rear ones and the ones just behind the rear seats I again used 3mm plate to repair them.
This is what I found on the current one when I took the rear carpet out

Ahhh me n Mattsterrano are going through the boot floor in my wifes truck, quite literally through the floor lol.

Not replaced the whole floor but some large sections and exactly the same part of the os wheel arch, think that area has something to do with the plastic shield that protects the filler neck.

And the car that gives, keeps on giving. This time the fuel filler. Looked behind and sure its seen better days. The body work around seems grand, but the filler itself could do with replacing - assume these can be got as a part just.

Next, a noticed a wee bubble below the wax on the drivers side rear arch. I had noticed that the outer sill had already been done, but hadn't noticed the inside.

After removing the wax, I think its time to weld in a new piece. The other side was the same, but rust isn't as bad and think I might have saved it in time. A bit of rust inhibitor, bit of wax and should be grand. (unlike this side!)

You know, I never got this car to learn how to weld!!

Yeah most terrano owners have to get out the welder at some point :lol
Still not as bad as my mates disco, pretty much re built the body on that thing

More holes.... Rear driver suspension mount to chassis.

Also found that my fuel lines had gone in the past. Might replace them all, but how lazy can you get not removing the old steel lines.

Should I be bothered by the amount of rust/corrosion on the read diff, or just get stuck in with a rotory wire brush and a paint brush...
