Hi my daughters Terrano is suffering from NO ELECTRIC WINDOWS working at all, they havent worked for ages, but due to warmer weather approaching she is hoping that DAD can fix it for her, but DAD is nearly 70 and not very flexible !.

I have downloaded the R20 workshop manual but find it is an EXE file, suitable for ONLY Windose Computers, and of course i have an Apple computer.

So my very first question is:- can somebody please, convert the 38mb EXE file to something i can read PLEASE.

Thanking you in anticipation. i have gleaned from another Terrano owner on FB that, as she has had the Clutch/gearbox removed and refitted maybe a plug in the console area has been unplugged etc.

Hopefully the Manual will give me a few clues ???

Tim

I had problems with my windows in that they all went down, using the drivers door buttons, but didn't come back up. I bought a second hand switch cluster and they all work as they should.

Well, since you asked so nicely, and are already on a back foot having an Apple, :augie:lol I have stuck it as a plain "ZIP" file here...

Hopefully that will help..

If need be, I have a pdf version (one pdf per chapter). Just need to find a way to get it to you :)

Thank you Lazy-Ferret that is very good of you, i like your cheeky little remark as well, GREAT thanks, i just hope i can understand the Manual LOL.

Is there much difference between the R20 and an R50 ?

Thanks again

Tim

I would look at the console switches first, and the contact blocks, ie connectors.
Check also that the pins in the plugs aren't pushed back, and causing a poor connection.
Also, there are a few sharp edges on the metalwork, under the console, that if connectors are not held in place correctly, might short or damage the cable.

Of course, I assume you have checked the main fuses.

There is also a switch that stops the rear windows from being operated from the rear seat position.
Good luck.

Thank You Perelar, i am going to have a look at the R50 version of the manual courtesy of "Lazy-Ferret"
But is there is much difference between the two models, i would suggest DROPBOX to get those files to me.

Later:- Have now got the PDF files of the R50 manual, thanks Lazy-Ferret, there is a large "trouble shooting" section, together with the tips spelt out by "rustic" above, i should be able to get somewhere, if not ???????

THANKS EVERYONE for your help :)

I do remember being warned about window switches when I spoke about taking the centre console out.
Are your switches in the centre console or on drivers door?

I am told that 3 switches are in the centre console, with the drivers door switch in the door panel

Ok in that case you will have switches on the other three doors, have you tired these switches? On the centre console there is a master on off for those switches too. Also basics are the fuses.

So sorry... I was helping someone else with a manual a couple of weeks back, and moved my R20 one out the way so it would not accidentally get over written... then forgot..

Here is the correct one.

most probably a displaced plug under the center console, remove the two screws in the console storage box and lift it up from the rear, if the sockets are still in their holders then you cannot lift it barely high enough to see what is holding it down, put your hand in and ease the sockets out of the metal U slots that hold them you can then lift it high enough to see what is going on, most time it has been lifted and pulled the plugs from the sockets but not know then refitted but plugs out, Rick
