Hi guys just a quickie I have a 2.7 tdi and my mate has a 2.7 td and his truck by rights should have slightly less power than than mine but his feels so much quicker than mine.

I know it's not all about speed with these trucks but I'm thinking I may have a problem if this is the case.

His feels so much more responsive fr example we were on a main a road today and I was following him and I was flooring my truck and he was just pulling away from me over a distance of a mile he was a good 100or so yards in front of me a pulling away all the time I just couldn't keep up.

We also have exactly the same snorkel setup but hs snorkel is so much louder and seems to suck so much harder than mine ???

The only difference is mine has a air flow meter as far as turbo intake is concerned.

I've disconnected the afm and the truck is dead flat.

My mates truck had a problem where by it wouldn't rev over 3000rpm but since removing his mini filter the truck flies .

I'm going to check mine tomorrow but I've had the main banjo out before and there wasn't a mini filter built into the banjo so ill have a look further inside the pump.

I'm hoping there is one in there so I can remove it.

When me and my mate compared our truck just on idle his truck seems to rev so much easier and freer not no mention faster.

Again this doesn't sound right I know mines fly by wire and his is cable but is there really this much difference ??

I have no fault codes at all and the truck runs fine just a little sluggish compared to my mates td

In the last 3 months I've changed fuel filter, replaced fuel lines ?

That's not right mate , should easily be the other way round big time. Any pics of your snorkel instal? Air filter. is it genuine or a KnN.
What fuel you running?
Tyre sizes? Are they the same as your mates?

.

Alright Pete I'm running 33x12.5 x15 he's running 31x10.5x15 my old set up

We both have the same carbon fibre cold air intakes with exactly the same size running on the inner wing to homemade pipe both exactly the same

But his is so loud and mine is so much quieter

Both run on petrol garage diesel

I'm stumped his is a 2.7 td non intercooled maverick 5dr gls

Mine is a 2.7 tdi intercooled terrano 5dr se touring

Had a little look on Parkers guide and it says min is 122 bhp 16v 197 nm torque and his is 123 bhp 8v 278 nm torque

Are these figures correct ?

I thought the all 2.7 td non intercooled engines across the maverick and terranos were the same and all maverick and terrano 2.7tdi were the same ?.

Forgot to mention his maverick is a n reg square headlights and my terrano is p reg round headlights

Parkers pants
Td is 100bhp near as damn it and the Tdi 125bhp near asdamn it.
My 1st thought is gearing, you're running 33s, he'll out accelerate you even with 25 horses less. You should catch up later though, and pass him on a private runway :D:sly
The lack of noise could be due to your i/c vs his straight through set up.
Suction should be a bit more on yours, stick your hand on the end of the pipe and then his at 1500 rpm then at 2500 should bite your arm off :lol

.

Il check that tomorrow I think also when revving on idle his seems so much freer when revving mine seems to rev slower ?

We were both going about 35-40 mph and when he put his foot down I just couldn't live with and that's dropping down a gear as well

I've driven his truck and feels so much more lively to drive mine didn't feel like his even when I had 31's on mine

hmm, what size pipes did you redo the fuel lines with and did you do all of them?
Fuel filter air leak ?
There's a fundamental problem there somewhere , but the wine kicked in a while back now :D

yep what pete said but also what fuel you runnin on? is it straight diesel or u got veg oil in there aswell? have run veg oil myself and have seen the fuel primer pump its self gettin the veg oil through, just a thought

.

Egr valve disabled has been for last 18 months inlet butterfly removed, the fuel lines I replaced were 8and 6 mm frm the tank to approx by the drivers door and the fuel filter seems ok manual bleed pump goes hard ?

I'm stumped ?

.

Never used veg oil only petrol station fuel

It seems like the truck feels sluggish but with no symptoms if that makes sense .

This carbon fibre thing , take it out for a quick run and see what happens? and show us a pic of the install.
There be summut basic here if no fault codes:nenau
Intercooler clean and clear, no cracks?
MAF could be on the way out too

Same filter as mine, and it's a tad restrictive tbh, but mine has only marginally lost performance

As makeitfit said, remove filter and go for a run with just your maf there open. See how well it goes then u have discounted the filter

I'd suspect a dodgy maf tho tbh

My last t2 was an n reg mav with a front mounted intercooler and my present t2 is a p reg tdi and i have the same problem and always thought it was the mavs intercooler that made it faster so havnt given the differance another thought. KEV

I agree with previous comments the Td is i believe 99 bhp and the TDI 126 BHP. I have owned several of both and the TDI feels a lot more than 26/27 BHP more powerful. The difference is surprising :thumb2

Have you cleaned out the intercooler, could be bunged up, are the free wheel hubs unlocking, are the calipers sticking and were you using thr aircon.. every little helps. Regards. Bri

I'm going to check mine tomorrow but I've had the main banjo out before and there wasn't a mini filter built into the banjo so ill have a look further inside the pump

Whats this??

My Terrano goes like stink btw! Its hard to keep to any speed limit! Out dragged a new Audi tdi 4wd 'thingy' up a mile long steep incline yesterday

fuel

Just a thought, when i spoke to nissan about a similar problem with my 2.7 tdi, they stated that if you use aftermarket filters on these, they will go pearshaped,i fitted a genuine nissan fuel filter, and it cured it in 2 nanno seconds, mine now flies like a rocket, well worth fitting a genuine filter, only cost £8.95,worth a look, andy.
