Well it just goes to show what a difference the right foot plays, did a largely motorway trip today 309 miles up with empty car trailer, keeping the revs around 2500, filled to the brim on depart filled to the brim on arrival = 27.61 mpg, came back with a LWB T2 on and as could see me being late gave it some stick, 68 mph as on sat nav most of the way = 3000 plus revs, did 312 miles = 21.08 mpg, now I know I can get 25 mpg towing loaded on A roads so just goes to show, and when I filled up it took 67.43 ltrs so on a 70 ltr tank it was cutting it fine, Rick

Nicely done Rick, better than mine normally :lol

I got another 100 mile trip tomorrow and then next Sunday about 120 mile down to Sleaford and then same back Tuesday with another 100 mile round trip on the Wednesday so she'll be running some steady motorway miles up. So I'll check it again after then.

I am quite happy, as at 67 I can still do what I did when I was 30, ie long day and high mileage, but have to say the large number of absolute idiots on the road beggars belief but more than that in all that 650 miles I saw not one law car on the road, loads screening broken down motors (wtf) the country has gone to the dogs that is for sure, Rick

Just topped up last night so various A, B and country lanes around Somerset and doing 26mpg without the van....

On a run I get between 29-33 MPG depending on how I drive & even fully loaded with all our camping gear it's roughly the same figures but I don't go over 2500rpm if I can help it

Caravan around 1250 Kg

5 years with SWB 2.7 TD - 18 to 22 mpg towing, 24/25 solo.
12 years with SWB 2.7tDi - 20 to 24 towing, 25 to 27 solo.
1 year with 3.0 TDi - 24 to 28 towing, 28 to 32 solo.

All the above are average I have had peaks higher and lower, France is good for the mpg as roads are general quieter. Lake district and NW Cornwall not very good for mpg, excellent for hols :)

2500 rpm to 2700 rpm appears to be the bogey point, over that mpg increases.
