Horses for courses I'm sure Bazza but doing 55mph and being overtaken by lorries all the time would drive me round the bend. I spend enough time in that tin box as it is without prolonging it any, so its speed limit :augie for me.

But as one who consistently thrashes his trucks, what I can say is its only towing that really does the damage. I can drive all day at an indicated 90mph and still get 25-27mpg, but the minute I stick the Ifor Williams twin-axle on, it plummets to low 20s, regardless of whether its loaded or not.

My experience over 14 years has been that fast driving, especially if you don't mash the pedal on the floor to get there, doesn't actually affect mpg as badly as you'd expect it to.

But anyone with a 2.7 should fit a 57i induction kit immedately. I just fitted my fourth one to the wifes truck and, as usual, it turns in a minimum 10% improvement in fuel consumption and a smoother drive. If you are averaging around 24mpg your fuel costs will be about 26p/mile, so if you calculate conservatively that you will save 2mpg with the new filter, thats 52p back for every gallon of fuel you use, getting your money back in full at a little over 100 gallons of fuel (or 450 litres, which equates to 7-8 fillups at 60-odd litres a time). In reality its less than that since the actual saving is more like 2.5mpg

If you are a regular driver of the T2, as opposed to weekend use only, its a no-brainer frankly. :)

Sadly theres no kit for the 3.0 AFAIK.:(

I've always thought my T2 is a bit asthmatic, so these kits look quite good. They look quite simple to fit as well. See link below...

Is there any noticeable improvement in performance i.e. towing?

If you don't expect miracles you won't be disappointed. The stock airbox is badly constricted and the K&N makes it flow much much better....there will be a noticeable improvement but its not what you'd call striking if I'm honest.

But its the 10% improvement in mpg thats the killer result!

And a piece of cake to fit....three bolts to undo, then remove the old airbox and fit the new bracket and filter. Takes about 15 minutes tops.
