Thats what im getting too Welshjas but in my trol tugging my van. I dont think thats bad at all really. I used to have a 2.5TD frontera that i could only get 25mpg towing a smaller van.

OK X TRAIL DOING AMAZING 33 MPG TOWING A 1700 KG ADRIA FROM TENBY SO FEW HILLS TO FIGHT WELL PLEASED :clap:thumbs

WOW towed our van to Aeron coast and due to the never ending hills i got a shocking 17mpg:eek:. Ithink it was the fact that the hills were not just short and steep but went on for mile after mile. I had to work the old Trol a bit, could really do with a turbo

I'll put a spanner in the works here; the speeds you describe, are they from the speedo on the Mavrano, or from a more accurate (GPS) source?

I ask because my vehicle the speedo consistently over reads by about 6 to 8 mph up to 70, over 70 the discrepancy gets bigger. So if I drive at an indicated 50, I'm actually only doing about 43mph. Means it does the fuel economy good, but i also know I'm driving slower than the traffic conditions often allow. Hence the reason that i try & drive to s even 56mph, which is about 25oorpm on my vehicle.

Mine does the same.Only realised it when I got a SatNav.Now I know why everyone was passing me and giving me the beady eye(amongs other things)If I don't have the SN I try and stay around 2500rpm.At 3000 I'm doing about 70mph.

towing from tenby to abertillery visa versa was well pleased will be sticking to xtrail from now on
and that from full neck to refuel full neck @1.42 per litre
