Hi .
I took Sheila`s vectra for last week. it passed.:clap
I went to a mot test centre called MOT MAX.(they only mot)
Advertisement says no pass no pay.
but only on cars 10yrs old or less.
Plus they put a flyer through our door for £10 off .
so it cost me £35 :clap:clap
Anyway i am sat in the waiting room with a large glass window looking at the test centre ramps.
Vectra comes in up onto the ramp ,mot man starts his inspection ,then all of a sudden the vectra starts SHAKING REALY SHAKING I THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO FALL OF THE RAMP.:doh.
Anyway its a new type of gismo that shakes the car about while mot man watches for movment in the steering/suspension and bushes .
then goes to talk to his mate working on a Mondeo on next ramp ,leaving the vectra shaking itself to bits. He turns round and walks back under vectra and has another look ,turns the shaker of then starts it again on another program which tries to push the front wheels together so all in all i recon the vectra must have been shaking close to 5 mins all told.
WHAT do you recon .

Never seen that before on MOT. Don't they think our cars go through enough with the countless number of speed humps and pot holes we have on our roads these days.

So you are finally catching up with the Irish system,if the roads don't shake it bits,we will when you come to have it tested.:D:D Thing is,if they break it they aren't liable for damage. We have to sign a disclaimer before they will test it over here. My English mate's reckon our (two year test) is a nightmare compared to the MOT, but perhaps they are just starting to add a few nice little surprises to yours.

Hope Sheila is recovering well and returning to 'para' normal.
Here in France the MOT (Controle Technique) is, thankfully, only every two years but they also use a 'shaker'. It, apparently, tests the effectiveness of the shock absorbers. They also have UK type 'rolling roads' which test the effectiveness of each of the four wheel's brakes independently as well as the handbrake. It is quite thorough but not too nit picky. For example my T2 has a crack in the rear light lens and some non-structural corrosion, that only warranted an advisory not a failure. I don't know how that compares with a current U.K. MOT as it is some considerable time since I went through that harrowing experience.

Neither of those would fail here CL; the light would if there was a hole in it but not with ust a crack, and rust only if its deemed structural...:)
