MOT on veg oil, the results!

My T2 passed it's MOT today on 50/50 (ish) mix of cheap aldi veg oil and asda diesel.

Exhaust emissions were.

arithmetic average of the opacity = 0.99 (-1)

which seems markedly better than last year when it had a lot less miles on the clock. If anyone knows about these things and want any more figures let me know.

Apart from that it had one advisory on not being able to inspect one of the rear belts due to the child seat being in the way.

Mine is 1997/98 what do i need for it run on 50/50 veg oil,diesel not sure if it would damage thing long term ie injectors,diesel pump do you need heated fuel filter.

there is loads of stuff on here on this, the consensus of opinion seems to be 'just bung it in' some members are using 100% oil with not heater, others various mixes. There was some question over Zexel fuel pumps and veg oil, but again some members seem to have them and still use it. Best to do a search as I'm not expert. :thumb2

Glen as Plank says, just bung it in. This is old diesel technology that, unlike common rail and other modern stuff, is robust and accommodating. Several long term users and no it doesn't gunge up anything - once mixed with diesel theres virtually no difference in viscosity.

veg oil burns clean, I believe, so the emissions would be lower.

The sunflower oil smells better but the vegetable oil stays thin in cold weather but smells foul.
