failed mot this week thougt it was on arb bushes nice easy fix wrong turns out to be cross bar £170 from ford been waiting 4 days still hasnt arrived anyone else had this problem

looks like you are definatly the bearer of bad news truck is in garage for repair they ordered part will have to give them a shout on monday and see what they say

Yep had same problem and got mine from Millners after nearly collapsing in fords that £170 is without vat by the way.

probably take ford a week to 10 days to get it anyway so you should save time getting it from Milners too.

save time and a lot of money what i would save on the bar would pay for the two front tyres that i need dont know how these companys can justify charging so much for parts

went to garage this morning had no problem canceling parts straight home phoned milners £99 deliverd should get them on wed just a slight difference than ford help and advice members of this club give is second to none best tenner i ever spent keep up the good work

Thats gone up a bit mine was £76 and afew pence del inc vat and that was only about three months ago.

that was for steering rod and 2 anti roll drop links and delivery to the highlands of scotland

a heck off a lot better than from ford saved well over £100 thats going towards two front tyres

Mine has failed big time today!!!!!

Rear seat belt anchorage points
Loads of Brake Pipes
Front Anti Roll Bar Link
Fuel Pipes
Front Shocker Bushes

And lots of advisories

Is this the end of my baby?

How much is she worth now with 12 months MOT?

I think times are hard with the garages, less money about so they could be looking harder for items that may be on the borderline.
My daughter's car (Fiesta M reg) failed big time yesterday, suspension brakes etc also needs a new clutch (but was going to do that only if it passed), the garage kept trimming the price and even discounting the parts as well to secure the business and included to do the clutch, beat the local guy. A Ford main dealer as well..
Will be back on the road later fingers crossed. When you spend over £400 on an old car you do question why....but I waxoyled the car from new 14 years ago, so cheap motoring really.... First major bill.... other than tyres exhaust and batteries.
We did sit down and discuss whether we should scrap her.... but if you buy a car 5 years old, you can spend more on it than that in the first year..
Least I know where it's been..

So haggle with the garage on labour and parts.

Have just taken a anti roll bar link down to him as I had one in my garage. Told him I'll pay cash and should pay around £250 to £300 unless anything breaks whilst do the repairs. I have to say that I don't think that amount of corrosion can take place in a year so it does make me think if last year another garage were not keen enough. Anyway at least the family will be safe which has to be the main thing.

I'm sorry to hear Jims-terrano :( I would keep a hold of it at least for another year as dealers are giving lower than the norm low trade in price at the min so you maybe lucky to get £1000-1200 for it as thats what I was offered for mine against a 9K T2 8O  Parkers state around the 2K mark depending on condition, mileage etc. Part of the prob seams as alot of peeps are now wanting shot of there 4x4's so dealers are trying to make really big money out of them. My bro has a 55 plate corsa 1.2 he got it brand new, it has full history & only 24K on the clock & it's as good now as when it left the factory & was only offered £3500 for it against a brand new one

Well I've bitten the bullet and asked the guy to fix her up as it is still cheaper than buying at the moment. I looked on www.thecarpeople.co.uk and valued the T2 at £1050 which all fairness is really what I would of expected. At the moment money is tight just like everyone else so there is no way I can afford another right now. Trouble is I am not too comfortable at the future with the other car, a Scenic 1.5Diesel. It does loads to the gallon but seems to be wanting things repairing and the Warranty runs out at the end of the month. I will post again tomorrow when I know exactly how much it has cost and what work has been done.

Just a quick update, she's failed again!!!!!! Sprung a diesel leak from a pipe under the car now. Ah well may be tomorrow.

She's PASSED and she's BACK!!!!!!!!!!

2 front to back fuel pipes
Several brake pipes
front anti roll bar link
oil and filter change
Both rear seat belt mountings plated up
MOT
£350

Several advisories such as pads getting low, disks and front shocker bushes and not forgetting an exhaust mounting that is starting to fail.
